| Rare is the entrepreneur who has achieved success by simply following the advice of others. Being willing to make unpopular decisions and having the resolve to stick to his decisions even in the face of doubt and criticism was what propelled Hershey to success. His choices were often questioned for their business sense and were thus not always popular with everyone from his wife to his advisors. But, in true entrepreneurial fashion, Hershey stuck to his guns. |

Companies Mutate or Die

| One of my favorite points with young growth companies, whether private or public, is that I focus on the people because the company almost certainly won't end up building what it says it will, so I better like you guys. That point -- i.e., companies mutate or die -- is less understood than it should be. |

Tracking Your Media Coverage

| Your press release is ready to go. You have decided which audience you want to target and determined that your release is going to newspapers, magazines, internet wire services, and television and radio stations. You decided to pay the Acme Marketing firm to professionally write your press release. As a part of their writing the press release, they will also do the distribution for you. This saves you time and money. But how will you know if the release was picked up by any of the media outlets on your distribution? |
