Build Prosperity and Strong Relationships With L.O.V.E
I had the honour recently of interviewing Evelyn Tian. Evelyn is a Singaporean woman living in Australia. She shared a story that started with volunteering to pack and send envelopes for the 2000 Olympics Committee here in Australia 10 years ago. That simple act of giving lead to an amazing trail of events that lead to her becoming the African Attache for the Olympics and Para-Olympics. This started Evelyn on an incredible journey to Africa for 6 months where she worked with disabled women and children, introducing wheelchair sports and fund raising for home made wheelchairs. She is now working toward helping disabled orphans in Africa.

Cold Call Concepts
Inc magazine’s August 2000 issue introduced Pat Cavanaugh, CEO of Cavanaugh Promotions, to whom cold calling is a sport. He opened 100 new accounts in the first quarter of 2000, and can make 200 calls a day when he does "nothing but get on the phone." Here’s what he says about it:

Managing Diversity: A Bliss or a Curse
Workforce diversity is a reality at San Francisco. We already reflect the national demographic trends predicted for the year 2000 by the Hudson Institute in its 1987 report, Workforce 2000. Accommodation issues for our diverse workforce, such as childcare, elder care, flexible work arrangements, disability accommodation, and literacy are being addressed in the workplace.

3.1 Developments in trade negotiations: Economic Report on Africa 2007
World trade expanded significantly between 2000 and 2005. Total world exports increased from $US6,451 billion in 2000 to $10,393 billion in 2005, an increase of 61 per cent.

3.0 The African Entrepreneur Personal Traits: Entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Africa
More than twenty personal traits of entrepreneurs have been linked to entrepreneurial success in Africa (LeVine, 1966; Benedict, 1979; Frese, 2000), and elsewhere (Stewart, 1996). Debate continues as to whether psychological variables, socio-demographic factors or external factors are the best determinants of entrepreneurial behavior and performance (Frese, 2000; Buame, 1996).

Bullet proof franchising
A blue print for franchising in increasingly uncertain times. As 2005 approaches it is well worth benchmarking your business plans and formulating your strategy for what may be needed to survive the next 5 years. DC Strategy’s Rod Young looks at ways to blue print your system in increasingly uncertain times. The first 5 years of the 21st Century are about as good as it gets for the broader business community and franchising in particular. Since the 2000 Olympics and the release of the first Lord of the Rings film, the Australian and New Zealand markets have been discovered by the world and have enjoyed economic boom times with low interest rates, record low unemployment and a thriving and fast growing franchising sector.

Better Together
During the Beijing Olympics, beach volleyball players Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh were undefeated in their second gold medal Olympics, with an amazing record of 108 consecutive wins. Watching the advancing duo during the Olympic coverage, I heard commentators mention that when either woman was asked during interviews which one of them was better, they responded, "We're better together."

Case History - How Not to Hire Salespeople
A company wants to hire 5000 salespeople - but why? 2000 drop out before completing training, and another 2000 drop out during the first 90 days in the field. Another 500 drop out during the first 6 months, and at the end of the year they only have 500 of the original 5000 standing. What would it be worth to them from a cost, time, resources and practicality standpoint for us to simply identify, in advance, the final 500, before anyone is hired?

Fixing Mobile Home Park Vacancy Problems
