Keeping in Touch: How to Avoid Return to Sender
| |
| I've always been a big postcard sender and this vacation was no exception! Watching me write the cards, one of the friends with whom I was traveling, a woman in her 80's, mentioned how sad it is that she's lost contact with many of her friends over the past several years. She said she doesn't know if her friends are sick, have passed away, or moved, and she doesn't know how to find out. |

Little Things Make a Big Difference
| |
| There's an old saying that "by the mile it's a trial, and by the inch it's a cinch." The reason the saying is old is because it's good, it's valid. If it were not, it would be dead and buried. For 24 years of my adult life, by choice I weighed well over 200 pounds. I say "by choice" because I have never "accidentally" eaten anything, so when I choose to eat too much, I have chosen to weigh too much. Every choice has an end result. |

How to Deal With Emotional Employees
| |
| - Published in 'Engaging the 80's generation' - CONCHIUS 1 June, 2010. Many managers in China are concerned with the 80’s generation lack of self-control, often describing them as “too emotional” and not treating each other with respect. One of the main reasons for this is that being from the single-child generation; the 80’s generation have little experience handling emotions and set-backs. Employees who become very emotional will often bring out emotional responses from their managers. Being a successful manager, you must be able to control these situations when they occur. There are 3 basic rules for handling difficult people in general:
1. Be assertive
2. Keep calm, and
3. Use non-confrontational feedback |

So, how is it that Donald Trump has repeatedly filed for bankruptcy, and yet he’s still as rich and successful as ever? His most well-known financial scandal would have to be the fact that he brought his casino into bankruptcy not once, but twice. Market Your MAGIC 5 SelfMarketing Strategies for Success
| |
| The ability to market yourself internally within an organization or within your industry can boost your career and personal fulfillment. It can make the difference between people remembering you as a brilliant leader and contributor, or barely remembering you. I created a “MAGIC” formula for success, based on 5 aspects of effective self-marketing: improve your Manner (the way you walk, talk, meet people, and treat people) create Advocates (people who create “buzz” about you and your company or services.), Grow (grow in craft, market and self), get Involved (in internal and external groups, etc.), and create Commentary (speak up at meetings, write articles, etc.). MAGIC reinforces P.T. Barnum’s principle: “Without promotion, something terrible happens … nothing.” You can use my MAGIC formula to unleash your potential and achieve goals. |
