| |
| It really amazes me on how differently the generations behave in terms of their buying motivations and their spending habits. Although everyone is unique, we can clearly see a generalization among age groups. I believe these differences come from peoples surroundings and their influences consequently we are a product of our environment.
Let’s have a look at some of the trends we see in the last few generations assuming a breakdown as follows:

FUSION: A Six Step Solutin to Handling Conflict Across Generations
| |
| Together, Robin Throckmorton, MA, SPHR and Linda Gravett, PhD, SPHR share their expertise about conflict around work ethic and work methods, which are the primary sources of conflict in today's workplace even if you are a small nonprofit or a large Fortune 500 corporation. Plus, there are many other sources of conflict ranging from work-life balance issues, loyalty, respect, career choices, technology capabilities or availabilities, dress code to name just a few. The conflicts themselves are the feeder but the impacts they can have on the workplace are more crucial - miscommunications, decrease in morale, increase in absenteeism, increase in turnover, loss of productivity, or loss of customers. We don't, however, have to accept conflict in the workplace and these potentially detrimental impacts as the norm.

Home Based Business Team Creates A New Paradigm
| |
| Home based business team almost sounds like an oxymoron. Typically working from home means you are working for yourself and by yourself. The business circle is usually limited to a few people doing the work. New technologies make it possible for like minded entrepreneurs to change the paradigm of the home based business owner. Prior to the Internet, people purchased distributorships for the privilege of selling quality products for a commission. Many of the baby boomer generation will remember the visits of the Watkins and Fuller Brush man. Instead of working alone, entrepreneurs are finding like minded individuals who want to work as a member of a home based business team. |

Does Your Company Suffer from Cross-Generational Crankiness?
| |
| Boomers vs. Millennials: No it isn't a promo for Wrestlemania - it's a real and growing problem in the halls of commerce, large and small.
Millennials, those children of the youngest (what I call "junior") Boomers, were given the moniker because they entered the workforce around the beginning of the millennium, and brought with them a whole new world of career demands and workplace expectations that, to put it kindly, is met unenthusiastically by the middle and senior Boomers still running the show.
And if you're thinking "Who cares?" you aren't seeing the huge productivity-busting implications of a "generation battle" that saps morale, impedes the kind of seamless communication on which great customer service is built, and dissipates company loyalty.
So, how do you prevent this melt-down, or undo the damage if it's already happening? |

So, if the problem you were hired to solve evolves, it will probably behoove you to evolve with it. |

9 Steps to Succession Success
| |
| When it comes to the planning for the transition of a business, good things do not come to those who wait. Those who do often find themselves feeling the pressure of a ticking clock, caught between needing to move quickly and immobilization.
Good agents understand that long-term success means more than selling insurance for immediate needs; it means keeping an eye on that clock for clients’ businesses as well as their own agencies. They begin to think of insurance in a different light: insurance for the business’ legacy.
If you are thinking about, and planning for, the next phase of your – or your client’s – firm, taking the following steps will help you move quickly toward the goal, and assure smoother sailing in the process. |

Hoping For A Meaningful Change
| |
| Babies are helpless little critters who need their forebears to take care of every aspect of their lives. Mom and Dad need to feed the baby, clothe the baby, bathe the baby, shelter the baby, teach the baby, and save money so they can educate the baby and help the baby get a good start in life.
