Third Generation Leadership: Now!
What I really like about Gen Y is that they invariably demonstrate an openness and authenticity which enables them to demonstrate congruence, unconditional positive regard, empathy and a willingness to learn from others

What you can learn from a lousy teacher...
If you have a teacher (of any sort) that you cannot please, that you cannot learn from, that is unwilling to take you where you need to go because he is defending the status quo and demonstrates your failure on whatever report card he chooses to use, you could consider yourself a failure. Or you could remind yourself...

"Do You Have the X Factor?"
Many of us watch talent shows on TV like the X Factor and feel that, while we admire those who are talented, we are not in the same class. Well, you are. You just need to get a few things right.

Management and Mentoring with Congruence
This article is the third of a series of three covering the core conditions model developed by Carl Rogers and its application to Management and Mentoring. These core conditions were developed for use in Person Centred Counselling Psychotherapy and from my experience have great relevance to Management in general and my Mentoring practice in particular. The first two articles dealt with two of the core conditions in Roger’s model, namely Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) and Empathy. The third condition is however slightly more complex. In direct terms the word Congruence implies “Harmony” and in other definitions it is called “being Genuine”. However neither of these is fully descriptive of the concept being discussed here.

Congruence and SelfSabotage
Self-sabotage is a term used when someone is blocking themselves from achieving their ultimate goal. Does the definition of this term ring true for you? Or have you never considered that the obstacle in your path could be...you?

THE VALUE OF A PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT
I am sure that all of you who work in a corporate environment are familiar with your corporate mission statement? It is the one that typically hangs in the front reception area or perhaps on the wall in the boardroom. But do you have a personal mission statement and/or understand in a meaningful way what your purpose for living actually is?

Leadership 101: Integrity by Example
True leaders demonstrate Integrity by Example.

CONGRUENCE AND TENSION
Many years ago and much earlier in my career I was Manager of the Employee Assistance Program for the Province of Manitoba. Back in those early days I was confronted with a dilemma in assessing the nature of some presenting problems, which in the end was to change my approach and interest in the way I understood stress and the way in which I was to help support persons who were experiencing the symptoms of stress. "What do you suppose would be the consequences of not living your life according to what it is you value or not being able to fulfill your perceived needs?"

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF STRESS
Many years ago and much earlier in my career I was Manager of the Employee Assistance Program for the Province of Manitoba. Back in those early days I was confronted with a dilemma in assessing the nature of some presenting problems, which in the end was to change my approach and interest in the way I understood stress and the way in which I was to help support persons who were experiencing the symptoms of stress for the next 35 years. When the cause of a stress symptoms jumps up and hits you in the face like a 2-by-4, (i.e. loss of a loved one) you know what you are dealing with and accordingly, can act to address it. But what if it relates to not living your life congruently with what it is you value, and/or not living your life according to your personality type and finally, perhaps not being able to meet your perceived needs?

Self-Doubt -- Motivation
A doubt is just a feeling of uncertainty; it has no proof underpinning it. If a doubt has no basis , then it is a hindrance. Once you have pure and sincere motivation, all the rest follows. The prime mover of every action is the motivation or the determination.

Trust-Paced Marketing and Sales.
The pace of progress for marketing and sales activities cannot exceed the pace of establishing an acceptable level of mutual Trust. In converting prospects to customers, a consistent contributor to the erosion of Trust is the lack of congruence between marketing and sales activities and perceived attitudes. The role of Trust-Paced Marketing is to build a reputation or a brand that inspires Trust within your target marketplace. Trust-Paced Selling is not intended to replace the activities or steps nominated within the organisation's current Sales Process, but to pervade and penetrate the existing Sales Process and to act as a set of guiding principles and a measuring stick for all future evaluation and proposed amendments. Trust-Paced Selling is not a sales tactic, it demands authentic commitment to its principles
