The National Microfinance Bank of Tanzania helps Bail out the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) with a USD 56million Loan
| |
| The National Microfinance Bank of Tanzania has joined a syndicate of local banks and pension funds to lend USD 238million to Tanesco, the parastatal electricity company, wholly owned by the Tanzanian government, money which will be used to pay off debts to suppliers and invest in new equipment. The National Microfinance Bank was founded in 1997, and is the third most profitable bank in Tanzania, holding USD 430million in deposits and assets. The loan to Tanesco supports NMB’s business interests, as well as those of its customers, as it organises collection services for the electricity firm via its network. Currently the Tanzanian government owns 51% of the bank, having sold off the remainder of its stake in 2005. The loan syndicate involved in the bail out includes five banks and four pension funds all from Tanzania. |

Why Sales Managers Need to Make Regular Deposits in "The Trust Account"
| |
| In your bank account, you have an ATM card that only you have the PIN number to access the account funds. Every week, you make regular deposits and withdrawals into your account. Base salary deposits go in regularly through automatic deposit, while bonuses and commission checks go in periodically with expense checks and other deposits. You make cash withdrawals, debit card purchases, write checks, and make other payments.
Unless you enjoy bouncing checks and incurring overdraft fees, you're careful to monitor your balances so you don't bounce checks and rack up those nasty overdraft fees. Even though you may have overdraft protection, you certainly don't want to pay 16.75% interest, so you're careful to make sure your deposits outweigh your withdrawals.

George Clooney, Up in the Air, Relationships and Success
| |
| Successful people know that relationships are key to their success. They understand themselves and use this self knowledge to better understand others. They are competent at building relationships and resolving conflicts in a manner that enhances their relationships with the important people in their lives. They pay it forward by giving without the expectation of return. They make regular deposits to the emotional bank accounts they have with the important people in their life. They keep their emotional bank account balances high. In that way, they won't be overdrawn when they have to make the occasional withdrawal. |

Building Trust: The Ratchet Effect
| |
| I believe that building Trust works like winding up a ratchet. Trust is built by a series of actions or ratchet “clicks” that occur over time. But, like the ratchet used to pull in the sail on a large sailboat, when the pawl holding the ratchet from rotating backward becomes dislodged, the spool can spin back to zero quickly. If a leader has made a thousand deposits in the “Trust Account” with people, they can be wiped out by a single mega withdrawal that happens in a heartbeat.
This article gives some more information on this analogy and suggests a method for inserting the pawl back in the teeth once a withdrawal has happened so the bulk of historical trust assets are retained.

Health Insurance Policies And Health Savings Accounts
| |
| With Health Insurance Policies becoming more and more expensive, people are beginning to look into other, less traditional options. One of the more viable of these options is called Health Savings Account, or HSA. Many companies are actually turning to Health Savings Accounts for their employees. HSA’s are quite simple. It is simply a savings account in which you, or your employer, deposits money into, just like any personal savings account you would open with a bank. However, you can only make annual deposits, and, unfortunately for some, there are actually limits on the amount you can deposit each year. The annual maximum for an individual account is $3,050, and the maximum for a family is $6,150.
