Leave Memories of Appreciation
What would life be like if you could decide moment by moment your state of mind? What if you could have complete control over your response to any situation life holds for you? What if you could live in the space of gratitude and appreciation regardless of the economy, loss, change or uncertainty? Seem impossible? If not impossible, difficult at best? Living is a state of appreciation no matter what may seem unrealistic and unattainable to many people.

Many people define their life based on outward appearances. Discover how to go from craving the outward trappings to residing in the space of inner peace.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFES PURPOSE
You climb out of bed every morning; take a shower, brush your teeth, get dressed, have some coffee, toast or cereal, pat the dog, hug the kids, kiss the wife (husband), not necessarily in that order and head out the door to where and to what? No it is not a destination that I am talking about, it is a PURPOSE. Does your life have one?

Success Comes From Living Your Purpose
To develop your personal clarity or purpose you need to do three things. First, define what success means to you. Second, create a vivid mental image of you as a success. Third, clarify your personal values. Ask yourself a simple question almost every day. "Did the things I did today support my life’s purpose?" If you answer, "yes," consider it a successful day. If you answer "no," think about what you can do the next day to get back to living your purpose. Have a clear and vivid mental image of what success means to you. Live your life’s purpose every day. If you haven’t clarified your purpose in life, this is a good time to start. Once you get clear on your purpose, live it every day in all your actions.

Money & the Meaning of Life (Part 1)
"Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's." Jesus - (Matthew 22:21) For several months now I've known that what's next in my own personal journey along the Purposeful Path is to delve more deeply into my relationship with money and finance. I've said it several ways -- to have a breakthrough, a transformation, to create a new relationship with money -- one that is more empowering and that gives me access to greater freedom and power in this important part of the physical/material world.

Become a Remarkable Creature: Take Personal Responsibility for Your Own Success
Successful people are clear on their purpose and direction in life. They commit to taking personal responsibility for living their life purpose. If you want to achieve career success, you need to do the same. Clarify what you want from your life and career. Then commit to doing whatever it takes to get it. Set high goals. React positively to the setbacks, problems and negative people and events in your life. Keep at it. Don't let a day when you come back empty handed in your quest for career success get you down. Get up the next day with optimism in your heart and keep working toward the mighty purpose you've set for yourself.

Vision Boards: Tapping on your power of visualization

One question which I often hear from my clients is ‘What is my life purpose’. For most people, this is a very difficult question to answer

Success Principle #39: Stay Focused on Your Core Genius
I believe you have inside you a core genius... some one thing that you love to do, and do so well, that you hardly feel like doing anything else. It’s effortless for you and a whole lot of fun. And if you could make money doing it, you’d make it your lifetime’s work.

7 Tips to Attracting What You Want
We all aspire to be, do and have great things. Yet most of us simply aren’t creating the results we want. We don’t have enough money, romance, success or joy in our lives. But what we need to understand is that greatness exists in all of us. It is simply up to us to pull it out of ourselves. We all have the ability to create the life we want. We just need to learn how to do it. Here are 7 of my top tips to jump-start your success and start "attracting" what you want into your life.

Are You Living Your Life Purpose?
I'm sure you've heard the question many times and perhaps you are still pondering the answer! I am often asked by women "how do I figure out my purpose?" Is there a process? Is there a formula? Am I supposed to just know what 'it' is? And how can I make money at it?

The Top Ten Reasons to Hire a Coach
You have a big goal and you want someone to support you. A coach has no other agenda except to help you succeed. He/she can help you to brainstorm ideas, act as a sounding board, help you overcome your fears, and hold you accountable for moving forward on your plans.

THE PARADOXICAL WAY WE LIVE
How is it that we have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more medical experts but less wellness. We have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways but narrower viewpoints. We spend more but enjoy less. I mean just what is it that we have created here anyway! What have we been thinking or perhaps we haven’t been thinking, at least not enough about what really counts, what really is important in our lives. If the paradoxes we find all around us are an indication of how effective we have become at living happy, fulfilling lives, we are in real trouble.

Unraveling Your Life's Blueprint - And Finding Your Ultimate Calling
In this world of billions - billions of people, billions of concepts, billions of ideas - how does a person choose a life path - a career, let alone one that will last him or her a life time and one you can be sure to bring you fame or fortune, happiness and fulfillment?

Freeing Ourselves From a Downward Spiral
Some people call them vicious circles or cycles. I prefer to think of them as downward spirals of life. I’m referring to those periods that we can all become trapped in like the whirlpool of water as it drains from the tub. If we're not careful and mindful these downward spirals can suck the life right out of us. They’re like the Spiral of Fulfillment in reverse. When we find ourselves trapped in such a downward spiral we life can look and feel pretty bleak. Here are a few simple and effective steps you can use to free yourself of such life draining periods.

The Universe is Calling - Will You Heed the Call?
"The soul is like a wild animal -- tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient, and yet exceedingly shy." Parker J. Palmer from Let Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation In our last issue I made a distinction between one's life purpose and a calling or vocation. As you may recall the Life On Purpose Perspective offers that your life purpose is more about who you are as a spiritual being and what you came here to this life to be and to experience, while a calling or a vocation often has more to do with what you choose or are lead to do as an expression of your purpose. Of course, on one hand anything that you do in life can be enhanced when it's 'poured' into the context of your life purpose. For example, several years ago with Life On Purpose Institute was just getting of

Arising from the Ashes of Professional Burnout
Even though I had wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 7-years old, after 12 years in practice, I found myself at the point I didn't know if I could stand another day in the office. I was frustrated, tired and worn out by the constant stresses of practice that included staffing headaches, client turnover, and financial strains. On top of it all, the stresses at work were having a profoundly negative influence on my personal life. I felt disjointed and disconnected from those I most cared about. My life was out of balance and nearly out of control. The pain of burnout became so bad that I started abusing alcohol and drugs in an effort to numb myself so I could make it through another day. I even contemplated suicide...

The Basic Elements of an Empowering and Enduring Life Purpose
Many elements could contribute to the creation of a powerful, long lasting, and flexible life purpose. In my work with hundreds of individuals and thousands of people in groups, I have found the following three elements to be most effective: • Vision: What is the vision or possibility you see for the world? • Values: What are the core values you stand for and are willing to give your life for? • Being: Who are you? What can people count on from you? Life purpose is more about who you are than what you do. Remember, we’re called human beings, not human doings.

The Tremendous Life-Shaping Power of Vision
Vision is an integral part of a Life on Purpose. Without vision we can wither on the vine. What is vision? In working as a coach with thousands of people, I've found that vision is a key ingredient of our life purpose. It's what we see to be possible-not only for ourselves, but also for our families, our communities, and indeed for the world. Without it we perish. I've found that helping people reawaken their sense of what's possible is a key component of preparing for your journey to living your life according to your own personal life purpose. This is because the more someone taps into this realm of possibility, the more inspired they will be to take the actions necessary to make it their reality.

Spirituality - The Hub of Our Daily Life
"It is just as if a king sent you to the country to carry out a specific task. If you go and accomplish a hundred other tasks, but do not perform that particular task, then it is as though you performed nothing at all. So, everyone comes into this world for a particular task, and that is their purpose. If they do not perform it, then they will have done nothing." Jalal al-Din Rumi (1207-1273) mystical poet of Islam. What is the task that the mystical poet, Rumi, is suggesting? What is it that we must fulfill or our lives will have been a waste of time?

The Power of an Impossible Mission
I was sitting on one of the park bench at the top of Little Glassy Mountain at Connemara, Carl Sandburg's former home, when it hit me. I'd been reading excerpts from Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich and Natalie Goldberg's Writing Down the Bones, and was pleasantly surprised to find a connection between Hill's "definiteness of purpose" and Goldberg's essay on the power of our obsessions.

Building A Practice On Purpose Series Part #4 Identifying the Fear-based Culture of Your Business
In the personal life coaching I do as a Life On Purpose Coach I work with my clients to help them uncover their Inherited Purpose. This is the fear, lack, struggling to survive-based force that shapes people's lives especially whenever we feel threatened which for most people is quite often in today's times. One way to think of a business is that it's a group of people who have come together for a common cause or purpose. For a veterinary practice that is generally to offer services to pets and their owners. So, it makes sense that when a group of people come together that their individual Inherited Purposes also come together to form a fear-based culture of business.

The Wet Blankets of Profitability and Practicality
I recently had a coaching session with a client who's been a bit stuck in his life, even though he's become clear of his life purpose. He realizes that it's time to create a powerful purpose project that will inspire him forward in his life but can't quite get it in gear. He even knows what the project could be but he keeps stopping himself because he can't figure out how to make the project profitable or practical. For me, considering these two 'Ps' too early in the creative process is the kiss of death. It's like placing two wet, soggy blankets over top of your kindling and wood and then not being able to figure out why you can't get the fire started.

Living In The Gap Of Possibility And Purpose: Part 1
Creating a GAP in our lives can be one of the most life enhancing processes we ever do. The Olympic athlete does it when he or she 'goes for the gold.' The young teenager does it when he or she commits to the career of their dreams rather than settling for mediocrity. And you and I can do it when we clarify what our life on purpose will look and be like.

Living In The Gap Of Possibility And Purpose: Part 2
Strange as it may seem, determining where we presently are in our life can be more of a challenge than we may at first think. For starters, in today's hectic pace, many people simply don't feel they have the time to make such a determination. While it may sound like a good idea, it's a little like the old saying, "It's hard to remember your plan was to drain the swamp when you're up to your tail in alligators." So, while many of us can end up devoting more time to planning our next vacation than planning our life, it's important to reserve some quality time to 'work on our life' rather than just get caught up in the hectic pace of 'doing, doing, doing.'

Living In The Gap Of Possibility And Purpose: Part 3
Perhaps the Bible says it best -- "Without vision the people perish." But what is vision? In working with thousands of people over the last 16 years as a coach, I've found that vision is a key ingredient of our life purpose. It's what we see to be possible, not only for ourselves, but for our families, our communities, indeed for the world. Without it we perish. I've found helping people reawaken their sense of what's possible so important that it's a key component of preparing for the journey along the Purposeful Path because the more someone taps into this realm of possibility the more inspired they will be to take the actions necessary to make it their current reality.

The Land Of Purposeful Paradoxes - The Birthplace Of Your Divinely Inspired Life Purpose
Paradox is defined as something that appears to contradict itself, two statements that say opposite things and yet are both true. Something that seems to contradict itself and when heard together form a Truth. If there is such a thing as Truth in the cosmos, one of the most interesting places to find truth is in a paradox because like we said in our definition of a paradox, a paradox contains multiple truths. We as humans tend to want to see things as either/or, black or white. We are often uncomfortable with two things being true. We tend to want things one-way or the other. Do you have a FAVORITE paradox? Here are a few examples: "The more you learn, the less you know." Or "The more things change, the more they stay the same".... Or one of my personal favorites from Charles Dickens: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times".

Building a Practice On Purpose Series Part #2 - When Life Purpose is About More than What You Do
In interviewing literally thousands of people through the last 10 years and asking them, "What do you think a life purpose is?" I found that a high percentage of the responses had a common theme to them which was: "A life purpose is what I'm here to DO while I'm alive."

How to Use Contrast to Enhance Your Life
In my work as a Life On Purpose Coach many of my clients often experience times of "extreme contrast". These times can be very difficult and challenging and may have actually been what led them to seek out my services. So, let's look at how we can use contrast to actually enhance our lives. Contrast is defined in the dictionary as 'to compare or appraise in respect to differences.' Now we can either use this contrast to be right and make others wrong -- which we often do -- or we can use it to further distinguish what we want in our life, who we are committed to being, etc. by looking at what we don't want -- the contrast -- and allow it to point us to what we do want.

Digging Yourself Out Of A Deep Hole Of Fear, Lack and Struggle
Purposeful Point: No matter how deep a hole of fear, lack and struggle we find ourselves in; it is possible to return to our true purpose. Here are a few ways to bring our lives back on purpose. It can happen to the best of us. We're cruising along in our lives having a merry old time of living true to our life purpose where our thoughts, decisions and actions are consistent with our vision for what's possible, our core values, and even with the essence of our very soul, when suddenly we hit a bump in the road. Some of those bumps can be huge and can send us into a deep hole of fear, lack and struggle.

FINDING YOUR LIFE PUPOSE MINDFULLY
Living your life on purpose with a set of goals can easily be achieved especially when you learn to enjoy the journey rather than getting attached to the results, acknowledging and letting go of old patterns of thinking that no longer work, staying present and "being" in the action steps, and finally, trusting your inner wisdom which has always been there to guide you.

Meaning of Life
One of the my favorite books about life meaning is “How Then Shall We Live” by Wayne Muller. In it he poses 4 questions. Decisions, Decisions
Do you ever wonder why decisions you make foster reactions that you never dreamed of? In a Hay Group research brief entitled "Executive Blind Spots," the results of a large survey concluded that the higher executives rose within an organization; • The more they over-rated themselves compared to how they were rated by others, and; • The wider the gap between how they saw themselves and how their peers, subordinates, and managers viewed them. Individual contributors and lower level managers, in contrast, showed no significant gaps between how they and others rated them.

The Coaching Fallacy What it is and what it isnt
There is much confusion about what Coaching is- and isn’t. Many consulting firms have simply gone through their marketing materials and changed the word “consulting” to “coaching.” For many in the business world, that sums up what they perceive Coaching to be, a new word for consulting. Nothing could be farther from the truth!

PRICE OF LEADERSHIP
We all know that the world is starving for individuals who are prepared to step up and lead us. Men and women who are capable of rising above the mediocrity and narrow mindedness that seems so pervasive in the world, men and women who possess the strength of character, the vision, charisma, passion and energy to take us all to a better place. Much has been written and will be written still about leadership; what it is, where to find it, who can lead, even how to grow it. But you do not often read about or even witness the incredible cost that leaders often have to pay for their willingness to lead.

The Value of Setting Intentions
My belief is that the distinction between setting an intention versus setting a goal is that goals can sometimes be in the land of “should” or come from a place of need. Intentions are all about identifying what is our heart’s path. For example, a goal might be framed by such language as: “I should lose weight. Eat healthfully. Exercise regularly. Change my career. Take care of myself. And then I’ll feel okay about myself.”

For instance, when you were in your teens, your education, which college you would go to, what you were going to be when you “grew up,” may have been your priorities. When you’re in your twenties and thirties, your focus may be on job advancement, achievement, status, marriage, and family. Finding Your Life Purpose
Imagine what life would be like if everyday you got to work on projects that inspired and excited you? Being in touch with your purpose in life provides you the opportunity to live each day with intention and the feeling of being happy to be alive. Most living things come into the world with their life purpose on “speed control.” Seeds take root, grow and reproduce while providing food and oxygen for other creatures. A squirrel will forage for food, taking care of itself while it nurtures and protects its young. Instinctively they know what they are here to do. For most human beings, life is not that simple: we know that purpose gives meaning to our lives but a lot of people are not clear about what their purpose is.

Purpose
Purpose is foundational to human life, to social organization and to business. No one goes into business without a purpose. Thus, the clarification of purpose is the most powerful engine of success known. Purpose is the foundation of all planning.

What a Little Boy's Clarity of Purpose Teaches Us About Success
Successful people clarify their purpose and direction in life. Your purpose is your mission -- why you exist. Your direction is your vision -- where you are going in the short term. New Orleans Saints head coach, Shawn Payton's son has a simple purpose in life -- to spend as much fun time with his father as he can. That's why he worried that he wouldn't be able to have his post game catch with him last Sunday -- because the field was covered in confetti. What is your mission in life? What is your vision for the next five years? If your answer is, "I don't know," please take some time to answer these questions. These answers provide you with your clarity of purpose and direction -- a foundation on which you can build to create the successful life and career you want and deserve.

Successful People Live a Mighty Purpose
Success is built on four pillars; clarity of purpose and direction, a sincere commitment to taking personal responsibility for your life and career, unshakeable self confidence and competence in a few key areas. George Bernard Shaw's quote on being used for a mighty purpose gets at the ideas behind developing your clarity of purpose and direction -- and the importance of taking personal responsibility for your life and career. If you want to succeed, start by determining why you are on this earth, and then devote yourself to living that purpose every single day of your life.

Become a Remarkable Creature: Take Personal Responsibility for Your Own Success

If you want to achieve career success, you need to do the same. Clarify what you want from your life and career. Then commit to doing whatever it takes to get it. Set high goals. React positively to the setbacks, problems and negative people and events in your life. Keep at it. Don't let a day when you come back empty handed in your quest for career success get you down. Get up the next day with optimism in your heart and keep working toward the mighty purpose you've set for yourself.
