Project Planning and Risk Assessment
| |
| This article will describe two central issues in project management. Successful projects are built on good plans: unsuccessful ones are often caused by faulty plans. The ability to visualize risk factors and react appropriately is the basis for triumphant success, like the first manned lunar landing, or colossal failure like 9/11. This article looks under the hood of the planning and risk management processes.

America's Business economy grows because of the Transportation system
| |
| To say the least, we take for granted this phenomenal achievement and seldom take a moment to step back and marvel of the technological achievement of providing speedy, safe, well made and well maintained highways so you can drive swiftly from one major city to another at high rates of speed and even reach grandma’s house in her small rural town on some form of modern paved road. Why if you were somehow able to gather up all those miles of road and put them into one building to get a feel for how much construction it would take, the odds are you would not be able to see the top of that skyscraper and if you stood on the top of it, you would die from lack of oxygen.

Doing Business With Extra Speed
| |
| Transitions – the brief break between the swim and ride, or ride and run – can save us time if we eliminate wasteful actions. |

Can you do that a little faster?
| |
| This morning the local electric company showed up to dig the hole for a new pole on our property. They had already determined the hole would be going through rock so they brought in the right truck to do the job. As an old farm boy I was fascinated so I picked their brains for some interesting information. |

Heart
| |
| Some things cannot be measured, and the heart is one of them. I think of three former NFL football stars. Mike Singletary, according to the experts, was too short and his 40-yard speed was not that great. However, they could not measure his heart and they did not measure his speed for the first five to fifteen yards, and at that distance he was exceptionally fast. As a result, when a running back broke through the line of scrimmage . . . Singletary was able to stop him in the first couple of yards. That made quite a difference. |

Manufacturing Excellence - Inspire, Lead, and Succeed with PATIENCE!
| |
| Ouch. I have to admit that patience is probably not one of my better virtues. I also tend to expect that everyone will make decisions at the same speed as I do. As I get older though, I more and more can see the value of being patient with my environment and the people around me.
Every person is unique. Every person has his or her own challenges. Every person has a different risk treshold, and every person makes decisions at his or her own speed. If we would be more considerate and patient, we would have better relationships.
I want to master everything immediately and I want to be able to do it right away. However, it does not always work that way, and neither should it. Sometimes we get further ahead by practising a little patience rather than paying a high price for making a hasty decision or not allowing sufficient lead-time.

Speed Limits Do Not Reflect Your Capacity
| |
| When looking at cars, we all know that speed limits do not really reflect the capacity of how fast our cars can go. They are simply the law of how fast we are allowed to drive without running the risk of getting a ticket. Most of us drive cars with a capacity far beyond what the speed limit is.
The same is true in our lives and the same is true about us.
Most of us have a capacity far beyond the speed limit that we have imposed on ourselves.
Far beyond the speed limit we have put on our business and career.
What happens when we look at our capacity? Start to understand what we can really do. Look at all the talent, ability and gifts God gave us? .
