But by the time I was wheeled back to my same-day surgical room, she was even less hospitable and entrenched in complaining.

Heidi Thorne writes an outstanding newsletter that comes out every Thursday. A couple of weeks ago, she wrote the information below, that I tried to summarized, but I just cannot change Heidi's words. She talked about stopping your advertising, and I was trying to find a networking twist.

Socially Branded Journalism: Crossing the Generational Divide
On February 27th, 1968 Walter Cronkite closed his broadcast by introducing “an analysis that must be speculative, personal, [and] subjective.” He was of course talking about the Vietnam War, and in particular the Tet offensive. While those of us who have not yet cracked the half century mark in terms of years on this planet may have only a general awareness of what history has told us was a “police action” that could not be won, Cronkite’s words created a ripple effect that unknowingly and ironically has come to symbolize our fast paced, 7/24 instant access social media world.

Small Business Jobs & Credit Act: What’s in it for Small Business?
On September 27th, President Obama signed into law, the much awaited Small Business Jobs & Credit Act. I’ve been surprised by how little most small business owners seem to know about the provisions of this law and what is in it for them. The most highly publicized feature of the bill is the $30 Billion dollar small business loan fund. For many or most small businesses, this may be the least relevant feature of the law. Other features of the law include tax breaks for small to medium sized businesses, tax incentives for equity investors in small businesses and some significant changes in SBA lending programs.

Their company was on the rise. They had gone from $50 million in sales to $250 million in just 10 years. They had a softball team, a family picnic every year, and a Christmas party that was so loved by everyone that groups of people would get blocks of rooms and stay the night to party together. Almost every Thursday the entire office would end up at a local bar for a few drinks together. Most of the Senior Vice Presidents made it on Thursday night as well. And then the CEO decided to retire.
