Trent's Reid to head parent firm Tesco’s China biz

| MUMBAI: Gordon Reid - the chief operating officer, who oversaw the expansion of Trent’s Star Bazaar retail outlets - is returning to his parent firm Tesco to head its Chinese operations. According to an official Trent release, Mr Reid’s India stint was part of a franchise arrangement with partner Tesco, and he is now moving back. The company said his replacement at Trent will be announced soon. Trent officials that ET spoke to felt that managing director Noel Tata may opt for international expertise until Star Bazaar strengthens its operational set-up in the country. Mr Reid took over at Trent in 2008 after Tesco inked a deal with the retail arm of the salt-to-software Tata Group. |

Get a Grip On Your Time Before Your Kids Grow Up

| A few years ago I attended a presentation from Parenting Expert and well-known author, Stephen Biddulph on "Raising Boys". My son, Trent was 11 at the time so I was interested to hear what Stephen had to say. In fact, so were the 800 other parents in the room!
The key point that I picked up on was that boys from the age of 6 -14 really need 'time' with their dads. That is the most influential period in their lives when they bond with him. And the type of time they need is not all thrown into a 'once a week' or 'month' block or some exotic holiday once a year, they need to spend time with their sons on a regular basis. Otherwise how can you build a strong and stable relationship?

Tata's Trent, UK's Arcadia may set up 15 apparel stores in India

| Trent, the retail arm of the Tatas, plans to open around 15 stores of Topshop and Topman brands in the country in the next three years, in a franchise agreement with Britain's Arcadia group, said an informed source. |
