Creating Winners
A key leadership function is to create an organization where people feel like winners. This is not really that difficult to do even in the most oppressive environments. This article outlines some techniques you might find helpful at creating a winning organization.

Check for Consistency - It's How the Tortoise Beat the Hare
Remember Aesop’s fable of The Tortoise and The Hare? Both were in a race, and the hare dashed off to an incredible start. He became complacent, and even arrogant to the point where he took a nap, thinking that he could wake up and still beat the tortoise. When the hare woke up, he dashed as fast as he could to the finish line only to find the tortoise celebrating victory.

Goal Achieving Process Parts 4 & 5 - Implementation and Accountability / Repeat Process
I’m now completing my series on the Goal Achieving Process with parts 4 & 5 here. There are two major reasons why people don’t reach they’re goals – they lack action (implementation) and follow-through (accountability). You may have the biggest dreams, and create S.M.A.R.T. goals, but without taking any action and following through your goals, then it’s worth nothing at all. You need to have a means and method to implement goals, and then follow-up. This all comes as a result of accountability.

Expect to Win - How To Use A Strong Vision to Win Business
Running your own business is a great laboratory for self discovery. I told many people when I first started my practice that I learned more about myself in 2 years of running the practice than I did in the preceding 50+ years. Many people say that to be successful in business you need lots and lots of training and knowledge. Others will tell you need to be really gifted. Do you ever look around and see “less qualified” people who are very successful? How does that happen? What are they doing that you are missing?

Those Crazy People
His voice was loud; his attitude hostile; his words caustic. Despite how rude he was, she remained calm, professional, and polite throughout the challenging encounter. Even from my close vantage point, I didn't detect a hint of irritation in her demeanor.

Win More Business by Choosing the Right Sales Activities
The hard work of your sales activity can pay off for you if you take a systematic approach to it. Calculate your sales ratios. Track your activity. Measure your activity against the sales ratios and modify it where indicated. Maintain steady pressure and inevitably you will close sales.

3 Entrepreneur Coaching Strategies
Did you ever learn to play chess? Not the most popular game for this century when we move at the speed of light. However, it is a vital game for anyone who runs a business. Whether you formally know where to position a knight or a pawn on a board, you do this with employees and customers all the time.

Winning at Your Next Job-Simply Working Hard May Be The Answer
Nobody ever starts a new job with a goal to fail. Everyone wants to be a winner. Yet, most fail of at best are found among the mediocre. Why, is a good question? Many fail to recognize that thier talent is never enough. Hard work trumps Talent, every time-Tim Tebow

How Bad Do You Want IT?
When I want something really bad, you better not get in my way. I get my focus locked on it like a bull going after the cape. When I’m in this state of mind, I always get my desired end result. Always.

I Wasn't Losing……..
I recently saw Ted Turner being interviewed on CNN. The interviewer asked Ted how he kept going when his sailing team lost year after year and his baseball team was in last place for four years before going on to win the World Series. Without any hesitation Ted said, “I wasn’t losing, I was learning how to win.”

Success is Measured Between the Lines
Growing up, I often heard from my parents, teachers, and coaches, that I could be anything that I wanted to be, that success was within my grasp if I put my mind to it, worked and studied hard. “THINK BIG,” they said. I could be an accountant, lawyer, CEO, doctor, pilot, professional football player (my idea), ________ (you fill in the blank). Magazines, newspapers, radio and television screamed out and reinforced the idea that to be successful I had to own a big home, live in the best neighbourhood, drive a big car(s), eat at the best restaurants, join the best clubs, have season tickets to the theatre, travel to exotic climates.

I Won the Lottery and You Did Too
Years ago, my best friend called while I was studying for a test and told me that the lottery was at $200 million. I told her I had $5.00, gave her my numbers, and she bought my ticket. That night she called and said "girl you won, not the big one but you have 4 of the six numbers." So I learned at a young age, that I won the lottery that truly pays off: the lottery of life. You can't wish or hope that good things will occur. You have to stay prepared, and work your plan. This is the way you win the lottery of life.

Going Against the Social Crowd IS the Secret to Success
Don't try to be the next Facebook but only better. Be the leader that everyone else tries to mimic. To be a copycat is easy, it takes boldness to invent something that doesn't exist. Being in business sometimes means you forge your own trails instead of following the ones well traveled.

Are you a coach or just a cheerleader?
As quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, Joe Montana led his team to four Super Bowl victories. He has been elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was named by Sports Illustrated as the greatest football player of the past 50 years.

What Does Success Look Like To You?
Do I think differently of success at age 58 than I did at 38? I remember when I first started in the speaking and training business, women who were a bit older than me, asked me, "Do you believe your perspective would be different if you were in your 50s? Do you really think you feel the same way in your 50's or 60's or see life the same as you do at 38?"

It's Time for Excellence
You no longer can afford average. The global economic recession has taken “average” out at the knees. Where average was a safe place to land it is now a recipe for disaster.

“Strategic Thinking Applied to Making Winning Presentations to Investors”
As a business coach I find that business people always seem very interested and eager for advice on how to make winning presentations. And recently there has been an increased interest in seeking advice for making winning presentations to investors for their business. They want to know how best to prepare that winning presentation to a prospective investor. Applying strategic thinking to this request, here are ten actions I recommend to anyone desiring to make a winning presentation to investor(s).

Winning is for Wimps and Losers
People often find themselves looking for the winning scenario for themselves or their businesses. Finding the winning scenario is important for any long-term success. But even better than the winning scenario is the win-win scenario.

Kept Waiting
People who are winning at working aren't playing the I-win-you-lose game, translated in this example as I-don't-want-to-wait-so-you-can. You see, for people who are winning at working, their perspective goes beyond themselves. These are the people whose consistent, everyday actions contribute to a better workplace and a better world.

Where Does Winning More Sales in Business Start?

Winning Needs a Plan, Not Just a Vision
Rocky Wirtz, the owner of the Blackhawks for less than 2 years, declared that the team would be a winning franchise again. Then he took action to do something about it. He almost immediately moved to change everything about the team from the players, to home office staff, to media contracts. And just as important as winning the Stanley Cup (Congratulations Blackhawks!), is how he did it. He had a plan that had likely been formulating for years prior to his assumption of the team from his late father, Bill Wirtz. I believe that the plan you lay out to achieve the win should be as strong as your winning idea. It should be tactical, multi-faceted, well thought out, and reviewed with others. Knowing HOW to reach your goals is critical if you realistically expect to reach them.

Winning Isn’t Everything…
Vince Lombardi famously said “winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing” or some variation on that theme. Do you think it’s true? Is it really all or nothing? Well, what is true, typically, is that the runner up will not be remembered. Sometimes, our instincts are to minimize the value of winning. We tell ourselves, “It’s ok if we don’t win” or “We’ll get ‘em next time” – but really that’s a justification. Carrying that mentality makes room for failure before we have even tried to win. It is OK to lose. BUT…

Tender Writing Guidelines
Every tender that you write is different and every tender request that is sent out is unique which makes producing a winning tender on a regular basis very difficult. Fortunately there are some factors that are common to all tenders and if you understand these then your chances of winning that next big bid are much higher
