A Silver Century Is Colouring Our Labour Markets

We are on the cusp of a huge change and yet only a few can see it. According to The Conference Board of Canada’s most recent research finding, “A rising proportion of old and “very old” (those 80 years of age or more) citizens will be the defining demographic trend in most countries. A second trend, the rapid fall in fertility rates, will create societies with fewer young people. In Western countries, the labour surplus of the last quarter of the 20th century will become history in the first quarter of the next century.” Indeed, the 21st century will be the silver century worldwide.

America’s Blue-Collar Banker: The Early Years of Amadeo Peter “A.P.” Giannini

Home mortgages, auto loans, installment credit – they may be taken for granted today, but before this son of Italian immigrants came along, such things didn’t exist. Amadeo Peter Giannini – A.P. to his friends – revolutionized the banking world by focusing on “the little people.” Giannini passed away in 1949 at the age of 79. By that time, the bank he had founded, the Bank of America, had become the largest bank in the world, with $7 billion in assets and more than 525 branches in over 300 American cities. Today, Giannini stands out as one of TIME Magazine’s Builders and Titans of the 20th century – the only banker to make this list of the century’s most 100 important people.

Where is This Country's Integrity --- Navy Seals

| Media sensationalism can have a dramatic impact on public opinion. It's often times hard to ignore. Think about the Tiger Woods incident or what the American Idol's Adam Lambert who Tracy used to adore until he performed his perverted sexual imitation on stage at the American Music Awards. Then there are the White House party crashers; the media just can't seem to get enough of these stories that really have nothing to do with the substance of society except that they demonstrate how low we have sunk. The major news papers and most of the television news channels just can't get enough of "Balloon Boy", "The Octamom", Tiger's Sex Life", "The Health Care Fiasco" and many other non sense stories and yet one of the most devastating- patriotism destroying morale destroying decisions of the century is getting very little coverage.
