Complete not perfect

| If we are not content within ourselves then nothing, repeat nothing, will make us happy. Winning the lottery will certainly give us pleasure – we will be able to satisfy our desires, but it will not bring us happiness. Pleasures are superficial and all external – such as buying new clothes, food, alcohol, drugs and engaging in extreme sports. They need to be repeated because desires can never be satisfied. Happiness comes from inner peace with a contented and tranquil mind and an understanding of who we are, which includes our ethics, morals values and virtues. This understanding allows an acceptance of what we perceive to be our current ‘drivers’ for whatever actions, thoughts or behaviour patterns that make up our lives.

Culture and Institutional Reform

Culture is often described as "the way we do things around here." In fact it is more complex. It is also feelings, underlying beliefs, values, history, and assumptions about an organization. Those are rooted in experiences, stories, and behaviour patterns sometimes decades or centuries old. The culture tells people what is and is not okay. Culture is enduring, difficult to develop or reshape.Despite that, fundamental culture change is necessary for the reforms envisaged in Results for Canadians.

Hints on managing an ageing multicultural workorce

Research has confirmed the commonly held belief that as people age their ability (and often their desire) to change is diminished and that their thoughts, habits, patterns of behaviour, ideas and perceptions become rigid and limited and that it becomes more difficult for them to change in response to events (‘plasticity’ of the brain is reduced).

Coaching in Relation to Behavioural Styles and Patterns

| When considering the effects of behaviour in business, business coaches have long used behavioural profiling tools like DISC, to produce data which equips them to work with business owners, enabling them to get their staff to understand their own behaviour, recognise the behaviour of people they interact with and then adapt accordingly. This increases their credibility and improves communication.
Of course, this relates to the team as a whole, and recent research suggests that improvements in this area can have a significant affect on bottom line profits. |

Behavioural Intelligence – Noticing What Goes on in Meetings

Behaviour is what you say or do. It's not about what you think or feel. As human beings we have a unique brain structure which allows us to separate our behaviour from our feelings. Meetings and interactions at work are one of the places where this behavioural skill is most important and relevant. Behavioural Intelligence is about raising awareness, so that you notice your own and others' behaviour, and make conscious decisions about it.

Behavioural Intelligence – Modelling Excellent Behaviour

There is only one person you can directly control and be responsible for – you. Behavioural Intelligence is about taking charge of your behaviour and deciding what is most useful, appropriate and constructive to say or do next. If you decide while you’re doing it or saying it - it’s too late. The most skilled practitioners interrupt their instincts and make a conscious decision about their next behaviour.

Behavioural Intelligence, Impact and Influence in Negotiation – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Logical Persuasion

Your preferred ways of operating in influencing situations are built from your motivational values – the things you take to be the truth, the way the world works and the beliefs which guide your interpersonal and social behaviour. These motivational values operate alone or in combinations to create predictable patterns of behaviour. If you have a tendency towards Logical Persuasion as your dominant style of influencing you use your thinking power to persuade others. Factual evidence and logic are your tools and you use these to demonstrate how an idea, argument or course of action is right or wrong.

Recycling Your Working Cycle

Even though cycles are predictable, these can be re-programmed. Patterns of behaviors can be reformed, just as we can learn new skills if we decide and commit to it. Some business cycles are functional patterns, whereas others may be destructive ones.
