Having Inner Strength
Sometimes we hear things rattling around in our own minds or coming from our own lips that aren’t true. Have you ever made an off the cuff disparaging remark about yourself in front of someone and have them counter what you just said? This article helps you change your inner dialogue and beliefs about yourself into positive messages that will help you succeed instead of negative messages that will hold you back.

Smart Women Are Like Christopher Columbus
This article is about the value of life-long learning. Women must continue to grow themselves personally, professionally and spiritually. Our confidence and outlook on life is much brighter when we are learning and mastering new skills. The positive energy flow in adult learning environments is wonderful.

Smart Women Know What They Want
This article is about taking the time to decide what you really want to happen in your life. It seems like a simple question but if can be a challenge for women to answer truthfully. Women can have what they dream about but they must be willing to take the time to determine what it really is. Not what feels “safe” and not what others may feel is best for them but what they authentically want.

Work at Home Moms and Their Bad Rap?
Beware, this is a tad controversial. And I'm sure many readers may not like what I am going to say. It may even upset some, but I am guessing the people that get upset, are most likely the ones that are guilty of what I am writing about. It is about an issue that I feel needs to be addressed based on the conversations over the last few years with many work at home moms. These moms in business have become frustrated by how other work at home moms can seem to indirectly affect their business. Unfortunately, many work at home moms seem to fail to realize that they are business owners, and thus should be acting like business owners. Those who do not, have continued to give the term "Work at Home Mom" a bad rap.

Why Can't a Woman be More Like a Man?
Professor Henry Higgins in the musical, My Fair Lady, laments, “Why can’t a woman be more like a man?” We all know women who have had some degree of success only to make the mistake of taking on male attributes. As Pat Hiem challenges in her book, Hardball for Women, “You don't have to act like a man to succeed in business for you will always be judged as a woman.”

Today's woman entrepreneur - do you recognise her?
How would you describe today's successful woman entrepreneur? Is she a focused individual driven to work all hours in the pursuit of profit? Or is she someone who balances work and time for family and social commitments? Sue Stockdale, author of Secrets of Successful Women Entrepreneurs outlines what she has learned about today's successful woman in business.

Why A Home Based Business Franchise Is Perfect For Mom
Though some in our culture seem to believe that motherhood is a second-rate vocation, most would agree that only someone who has never been a mother or never actually paid attention to what his own mother has willingly done could make such a brash statement. In every way, motherhood is one of the most trying, tiring, and honorable professions a woman could ever take on. And it really is a profession; it requires at least 18 years of a woman’s life, takes all 24 hours of her day, includes the use of at least a dozen different skills and abilities, and normally pays in relational and emotional ways that no other career can.

8 Hot Franchise Business Opportunities For Women
There are only a handful of strictly "women’s franchises", and none of these are women-only, but these are opportunities where a woman can benefit from a strong franchise business and where the franchisor can hopefully benefit from a strong, entrepreneurial woman who signs on as a franchisee.

What's It Take To Run A Successful Business?
I was reading an excerpt from a New York Times article that profiled a woman (Charlita) who opened a restaurant that failed after about 1 year. This is a woman who had spent 20 years in the legal field. A quote from the article that talked about her speaking to herself grabbed my attention: "How could someone with a law degree and as smart as you blow it this big?" I know that is a question that many small business owners ask themselves every day.

Get me a woman
Some of you may be wondering why my blog is called “Sell like a woman”. First, Sell like a woman is not a feminist manifesto nor is it a male bashing exercise. The creation of the title was inspired by an increasing body of research overseas showing that woman are often outperforming men when it comes to achieving real and sustainable results in sales and effective sustainable client relationships. This led me to begin my research project and the book I am now writing, also called “Sell Like A Woman”. I have always been curious about women and their success in sales and wanted to explore the concept here in Australia and develop some Australian-based research as well.

Hello, World!
This is my first entry into my blog! Welcome to ‘Sell Like a Woman’. The creation of this site came about as a result of an idea I had about putting a book together. I am writing a book called “Sell like a woman” which I want to publish in 2007. My aim in writing this book is to highlight the key qualities, approaches and attitudes displayed and used by successful sales women.

What Can I Do?
I’m sitting in Barnes and Noble eavesdropping on the people around me. Yes, I do things like that because I learn a lot. Here is the conversation at the next table, Woman in green, in response to a comment about a boss: “So, what are you going to do?” Woman in red, sighing heavily: “I don’t know. What can I do? I’m stuck waiting for him to make a decision. I hope he does it soon. I wish there was something I could do.”

Why Coaching is the Way to Go in Team Management
When you hear the word “coach”, what comes first into your mind? Do you picture a basketball team with a man/woman shouting out directions? Or perhaps a football team with a man/woman pacing to and fro and calling out the names of the players?

Living on Purpose
Three women are killed in a car crash on the way home from a weekend excursion. Their souls are immediately whisked off to heaven for an orientation session. Each one was asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning your death, what would you like to hear them say about you?" The first woman said, "I'd like to hear them say that I was a great entrepreneur and a terrific mother." The second woman responded, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful wife and school teacher who made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow." The last woman replied, "I would love to hear them say...LOOK, SHE'S MOVING!!!!!"
