Getting My Attention
Every day I get inbound emails from entrepreneurs looking for funding. I triage these quickly as I can usually tell within a couple of minutes of looking at whatever is attached (executive summary, overview, intro powerpoint) whether or not it's in an area that I'm interested in investing in. Since my top level filter is "theme" it's easy to make a quick call. If you've ever sent me something, hopefully you've gotten a quick response.

Work-Life Balance should be Life-Work Balance - what do you reckon?
We hear so much these days about the work-life balance, but isn't that bit of jargon putting up a barrier right from the start? Surely life and all that it entails should be the priority, work is merely part of life. A major part of life for many people I know and I don't mean to diminish its value, by the way. Walt Disney kind of summed this up when he said: "We don't make movies to make money. We make money to make movies."

Is procrastination holding you back?
As a coach there are two issues above all others that I am asked by people to help deal with more than any others – the first is work-life balance (or life-work balance as I prefer to call it) and the second big issue is procrastination. Perhaps you are not surprised? Perhaps you are a procrastinator yourself? Don’t worry you are in good company and the habit of putting things off until another day is something we all do at some time or another. Why not read on NOW to find out more.

The Power of Intention
Perhaps one of the worst forms of multitasking is when we're trying to spend “quality” time with a loved one, while also trying to be “productive.” I'll never forget an experience I had years ago when I went to my daughter's soccer game on a day that I was feeling overwhelmed and behind. I had grabbed the mail on the way out the door. In my attempt to be efficient with my time, I was sorting through the mail while watching the game. Unfortunately, I was looking down when my daughter made her only goal of the game. I felt terrible when someone said, “Did you see that? Your daughter just made a goal!” Although she never knew, it was one of those moments I could never get back. (I could have read the mail anytime.)

Growing Your Internet Business Incrementally
How to grow a website by taking small, simple steps. Many web designers force over-complexification because they are too eager to use the arsenal of tools at their disposal. If you have a small business with a small website, you probably don't need a site that is dynamic content driven, or data base driven. You probably don't need Flash or all the fancy bells and whistles. You may just want to go the next small step.

Keep Your Advertising Simple
In today's high-tech business world consumers get bombarded with sales messages every day. Businesses feel that they have to have flashy ads with all the bells and whistles. This is not true. If your ad is simple, has a great offer, and it addresses the needs, wants, and values of your target audience it will sell.

Introduction - Microfinance:A Platform for Social Change
The phrase “Customer is King” may be an oversimplified cliché in business, but – stripped of all its bells and whistles – this phrase represents the essence of a consumer business.

Google Analytics
A growing number of SMBs with a web presence are discovering the simple joys of Google Analytics. It's true that so many software brands exist now that can blow whistles and ring bells that outstrip the Google feeling, but how effective is the bang-for-buck of the high-priced analytics solution for the average startup site?

Reasons I'm looking forward to Snow Leopard
I'm looking forward to Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") even though Apple has said it won't sport any flashy new bells and whistles. Building upon Mac OS X 10.5, the goal is to improve overall performance for Mac desktop users.

Website Marketing Tips - Build It and They Still May Not Come
Building a web site is no longer a newsworthy event. But having one, even a tricked out one with all the bells and whistles, may be a non-event if you aren’t working hard to raise your site’s visibility in a crowded marketplace. Website Marketing Tips: If you don’t have top search engine placement and a strong social media network working on your behalf, you are invisible. The good news is: It’s never too late to start. The bad news is: Nothing will happen until you make it happen.

The Basis of Sales Has Remained Stagnant
Did I get your attention? Good. Because I’m serious. Most of you would laugh, tell me I’m wrong, that the sales model has been shifting and that the Internet has ‘changed everything.’ But what, exactly, has it changed? I believe that basically, sales has not changed since the beginning. Sure, the bells and whistles have changed: it’s far, far easier to get leads and interest; it’s much simpler to get your message out; it’s much quicker to find out whatever you need to find out about prospects. It seems to appear as if buyer’s buying decisions are different (they aren’t, we just know more). But all of this leads to… leads to what?

How to stop social networking sites killing your restraint of trade clauses
Dave knew that he had a problem when he came into the office one morning to see a LinkedIn update saying that one of his former employee’s had taken a senior position with his major competitor. But it wasn’t the fact that Mandy had moved to his competitor that started the alarm bells ringing, but that he had received a notification of the move in his inbox – he knew that 70% of his client base would have received the same email and may flock towards her.

New Real Estate Agents - How to Make Your Listing Presentation Different From Everyone Else's
When I started in real estate, one of the first things I was taught was to create a listing package. Into this package went all of the bells and whistles I could find to persuade a seller to hire me. Here's why that didn't work and what to do instead...

Leadership Development: FUD to FUN
The FUD Factor tends to sneak up just around the time of the changing of the seasons. This is where at work you may be falling short of what was projected for the first quarter. FUD FACTOR: fear, uncertainty and doubt have a way of making the lights dimmer, the tinsel less sparkly, the bells sound tinny, and the gifts not just right. There is a certain need to be perfect, to be disappointed if we come up even just a few inches short of what we think should have happened. We are hard on ourselves; and way too often, we are also hard on those around us.
