CES 2010 – Look Good, Act Assured, Play Loud
It is so easy to get swept up in the excitement, the presentations of CES. This year was no exception because there was an event-wide feeling that things are improving and that the PC, CE, communications industry has not only rebounded but is set for a number of years of solid growth. Watch the presentations and it is almost easy to believe that the world really does evolve around us. There are still challenges mixed in with the opportunities. There are sound ideas and products amidst the noise and sometimes it is difficult to see which products and product categories will be immediate hits and which will take months (or longer) to gain traction. We looked at them all and give you a different look at which will rise to the top...and when. It's still Shapiro's Greatest Show on Earth.

Managing Your Time 20 More Tips
Every day we hear someone say, “I am so busy. I just don't have enough time to get things done!” And I imagine each of us has fallen into that same feeling from time to time. Are you a good manager of your time? Could you improve upon your use of this limited and precious item called time? If we are honest, the responses are probably “No and Yes.” As part of my business coaching and strategic thinking and planning consulting work, we do work on improving time management of individuals and of teams. We search to find more time by becoming more efficient and much more conscious about how we spend our time. Here are 20 more tips I have found to be helpful in managing one's time.

The Secret of the Seed
Selling is a bit like farming... you frequently get what you sow. Sow to future growth and get it. Sow to failure and reap it. Sow to success and see it blossom.

Lessons from The Breakfast Club
Have you ever tried to look better on the outside than you were feeling on the inside? Do you ever abandon your truth to please others? If you weren’t afraid of losing someone’s approval, acceptance, or love, if you didn’t feel that you had to choose between abandoning yourself or being abandoned by someone else, wouldn’t you be authentic all the time with everyone? Wouldn’t you stand up for yourself more? Whenever I am challenged to please others at the expense of being real, I think about Anais Nin’s eloquent quote, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

The Gift of Time
Time is one of my favorite subjects. Time is actually the most precious resource we have. Everyone starts their week with the same amount of time. Time is not a discriminator nor does it have any favorites. Time is fair and always ready to serve anyone who understands it. How we use the time we are allotted each day will have a definite impact on our outcomes or results. We are stewards of how we invest our time each day. We must treat time as more precious than money. Being good stewards of time will unlock the key to success in our lives and businesses.

Extreme Self Care - Taking Time For Your Life
If you’re like me, you’re almost always on the go. Whether you’re juggling projects at work, balancing your personal and professional lives, or being there for the people you love, your available time may constantly be stretched to the limits. When was the last time you really took some time just for yourself? I’m not talking about family time, time with friends or sleeping time. I’m talking about time that you set aside to do something for you that you really enjoy.

Staging Helps Home Sellers Blossom this Spring
As the weather warms, the gardens blossom and the school year winds down, families often turn their attention to selling their house. Staging Diva®, explains how a home can stand out from the competition in a buyer’s real estate market.

Marketing Opportunities in Difficult Economic Times
"Business as usual" is NOT the most effective strategy for surviving/thriving during economic downturns. Consumers don't stop buying during tough times but they do buy more cleverly. And they spend A LOT more time researching their purchases, seeking advice from friends and associates and otherwise doing their homework. Recession Marketers need to refine their tactics as well. In this article we share 7 essential tips to help you sharpen up your offerings (and actually most of these tips contain useful advice for marketing more effectively in ANY economy, good or bad). You won't blossom in 2010 simply by acting as if it's business as usual. Nor is it a time to hide your budget under a bushel. As one major advertiser summed it up: "When times are good, you SHOULD advertise. When times are bad, you MUST advertise."

Your Past does not Equal your Future
Your future, along with your personal and professional goals, are not as fragile as you might think. Failure is often the fertilizer that makes future success blossom. Recently, I had this principle confirmed to me via nine Irishmen from the 19th Century. It seems that in 1848 as Ireland was attempting to break away from England, nine young Irish rebels were captured and sentenced to death. As they were brought before the queen for punishment, Queen Victoria could not bear to have them executed, so she sent them to England's prison colony in Australia.

Website Wisdom – If You Think You Can Just “set it and forget it” You Are WRONG
Something has been weighing on my mind for a while now. As I look back on the evolution of my business I'm amused by the naivety that I exhibited when starting my Internet business. And, I want to share my mistakes with you so you can learn, grow and blossom with much less B.S.

Business Leadership Dilemma: Can the Dark Side of Employee Behavior Be Tamed?
This year is the 50th anniversary of one of the most important books in the field of leadership practices. When Douglas McGregor asked us to look at basic beliefs about the workforce he got the conversation rolling. "The Human Side of Enterprise" is a classic, one to be on all leadership development lists. Are employees lazy and self-centered, needing strong directives and lots of watching (theory X)? Or, are they inherently meant to blossom and all they need is to be given sunshine and room to bloom and grow (theory Y)?
