| This month I had the pleasure of hearing Johanna Skouras speak at a Chamber of Commerce meeting. Self-Assertion is something I have struggled with myself. Johanna says that to learn to be self assertive we need to learn how to serve our own needs without hurting others. As an only child I had no need to be assertive in my family. My needs were always acknowledged and usually served. The difficulty came for me when I was with other people. I smiled when I picked up Johanna's book at the library and the librarian, a friend, said, "Oh Alvah, you don't need that book!" I'm still working on many of these tips. What about you?

| I just had to write about JetBlue and the leadership of it's CEO David Neeleman. When something comes at me from 10 different directions, I get all esoteric and believe I should take a hard look at whatever is coming in. It's kind of like the universe is trying to tell me something. For those who did not see the article in last month's INC. Magazine or this month's Fast Company Magazine or the book that's written about him, let alone someone that you know who has experienced Neeleman serving them a snack on one of his flights, I'll condense what this guy is all about and the results he's having thus far. Since most of this readership is results oriented I'll begin with the end. Jetblue is an airline with more than 6,000 employees and 57 twin-engine jets. |

Judging a Book

| You've heard it said that you can't judge a book by its cover. This has never been more true as the next book you buy may not even have a cover.
Several months ago, retail publishers reported that there were more electronic books sold in a month than printed books. This is staggering to consider. One of the publishing experts I really respect, Dan Poynter, put it in perspective, saying, "It took cars 40 years to replace the horse, the CD took just 15 years to replace the vinyl record, but it's taken just four years for the Kindle to overtake printed books on Amazon."
