A Business Alliance is Not a Marriage - Part 3
“What kind of team building can we do to get both sides of our business alliance working better together?” “How can we get them to trust us more?” “As partners, shouldn’t we be looking at the balance between risk and reward equally?”

An Inside Look at The Steve Jobs Way
We know we don't often talk to you about book reviews but then it is seldom we read a book that is of widespread interest to our mutual audiences. As we note we're not Apple/Jobs fanboys but OMG we respect what they've done and in fact we're "a little" envious that they: - seem to do it so well so consistently - get more coverage by "accident" than the rest of us get by working hard for it Several years ago we were in a meeting at HP and asked the product manager who they tracked most closely and listed off the usual PC suspects. They surprised us by saying no they watched Apple very closely. They do it right 90++% of the time and when they missed they really missed and recovered so quickly they didn't seem to miss a step. So even then they were the ones to watch...today its even more mandatory.

Tips on Writing Guarantees
Let’s assume you have a brilliant product or service, and you want to make it an absolute no brainer for people to buy it – what can you do? One of the best things you can do is to take away all the risk for the purchaser and give a guarantee. By offering a guarantee you reassure them of your good intentions and in doing so, you will reduce their resistance to buying your goods or services.

Stress-Free Selling® - Go After the Easy Sales First
If you are like most people I know, you sell half or more of the referrals you get. One of my coaches claims 100% sales of his referrals! Let's first clarify what referrals are. When someone says "SoAndSo should do business with you," and they don't know SoAndSo, this is not a referral. This is the same brilliant idea you probably already had. Ok, back to prospecting referrals. . . There is a good way and a better way to ask for referrals...

Relationships are a Brilliant Place to Learn
Relationships are a Brilliant Place to Learn Ever notice how it’s the people we’re closest to who push our buttons. What if we considered them a mirror for our own growth and learning? What usually happens is we look at the other and judge: we don’t like what they’re doing. We think ‘They hurt me,’ or ‘I’m jealous’. We have judgments about how they handle money, or parenting. We don’t like how they deal with children, extended family, how they approach sexual intimacy, their work focus (or lack thereof).

Improvement Planning Infrastructure and Process
The high performing "born leader" is a dangerous myth. Few highly effective teams just fall into place on their own because the right people were thrown together. High performing organizations don't automatically emerge because somebody wanted them to, had a brilliant idea, or saw a great market opportunity.

Leadership’s Link to Emotional Intelligence
Ever wonder why some of the most brilliant, well-educated people aren’t promoted, while those with fewer obvious skills climb the professional ladder? Chalk it up to emotional intelligence (EI), a term first coined in 1995 by psychologist Daniel Goleman in his New York Times bestseller Emotional Intelligence.
