After the announcement, the return would increase by 21.33%, for a net return of 31.33%. These results suggest that investors react positively to energy management projects. Your video would be more entertaining and compelling with its natural sound, music and moving parts. And with the power of peer groups, there is a statistically higher chance that your video would be forwarded to undecided voters. |

The Case for Training and Development NOW!!
| |
| It is sure easy to delay, defer and cancel training programs in this economy. As a lot of training professionals will tell you, it is one of the first line items to be axed from any budget.
Unfortunately, reductions in training also carry a significant penalty. It will prolong the length of time needed to recover from a downturn. It will limit the ability to capitalize on the faltering of competitors (in fact, they may prey on you). It will reduce your ability your ability to perform at the high levels required when staffing is cut. It will harm your ability to attract and retain good talent when the economy recovers. |

The Influential Leader
| |
| Leadership has traditionally been defined as getting people to follow your vision. However, in today’s mega-matrixed world, leaders often do not have directly authority over those they need to realize their vision. Today’s leader must frequently lead through influence – a more subtle yet powerful approach to getting things done.
One of the most important aspects of influencing others is spreading and soliciting new ideas. |
|
|
Choose Your View
| |
| Our experiences are much less important than how we choose to think about them. The way we interpret our experiences shapes our beliefs about the past. Furthermore, our interpretations either limit or enable our future success. For example, a mission-critical project you are leading has “promotion” written all over it, but it bombs – it’s over budget, past its deadline… the works. How you choose to interpret those facts is where you can shape your future. Are you a failure, a poor leader who is maxed out and on her way out? Or, are you a great leader in the making who is learning some tough lessons that will help ensure success on the next project when your true colors will show? Facts are facts, but the view you take is your choice.

How to Read Customers
| |
| Actions do indeed speak louder than words. In sales, our customers actions communicate feelings a lot more clearly than their words do. It is the salesperson´s job to "read" a customer; it´s the sales person´s job to determine how serious the prospect is, if indeed, he/she is the decision maker, and whether or not the prospect has the budget. It is the rare prospect who comes right out and offers this information. More often than not, they prefer to keep this information to themselves. Fortunately for us, their body language often betrays them.

|
|
Sales is an Obstacle Course
| |
| If you sell, then you encounter obstacles every step of the way. There are the prospects you can't get through to, the same ones who don't return your calls, and those who offer so much resistance that the obstacle appears to be more like a road block than an obstacle. Then there are the obstacles of timing, competition, budget, and disinterest, along with using and happy with someone else, doing it themselves and bad experiences with your company or simply companies like yours. There is no selling without obstacles.

| |
| The prospect of a downturn in the economy can have a major impact on business. With Australia having such close ties to the U.S. market many businesses have gone into panic mode due to the financial crisis currently affecting the U.S. economy.
Whenever there are changes in the U.S. markets, people assume that it will have an impact on the Australian market as well and more often than not, it does. Many companies try to prepare the company for a slow-down in sales and the number one direction taken is to cut-costs. Unfortunately the general trend seems to be that the Marketing department are the first to have budgets slashed.
While there may be some merit in this strategy of cost-cutting what if we look at the other end of the spectrum which involves being proactive to counteract the negative effects of the market drop. |

Crafting Copy That Compels Your Customers to Act

One of the best pieces of advice I can offer when creating copy is to always include an offer, otherwise known as a call to action.
What do you want your customers to do? Don’t assume they’ll come to your website or storefront just because you’ve told them you’re there. Results driven advertising, marketing and promotions take more planning and effort than an “If I build it they will come” approach.
Give your prospects and customers a reason to support your business. Invite them in to your storefront, request they visit your website and be sure to ask them to take action by giving them a compelling reason to do so.
What are you “asking” your clients and prospects to do?

Stress-Free Selling® - Don't Talk Price Until...

| Don’t Talk Price Until... They’re Ready to Buy!
Almost every salesperson has experienced the “How much does it cost?” disqualifier disguised as a question within the first minutes of a sales call. In these instances, whatever price you give, the response will most likely be “Your price is too high” or “My budget is spent.” Whether you get knocked out within the first few minutes or after an hour long presentation, you are prolonging the sales process...in some cases indefinitely when you talk about price before they’re ready to buy. It usually takes a long time to find a shorter way. ~Anonymous
I spend a good percentage of my time selling. I also teach selling to professional service providers. And one issue that comes up time after time is, "How do I get prospects to buy faster? Why don't people respond to my proposals, my calls, my emails, or me? How do I shorten the sales cycle?"
My flip answer, "Have more in the pipeline at all times, so the sales cycle just seems shorter."
Of course, that rarely makes anyone feel better. So based on our research and experience, here are my Ten Commandments to Making the Sales Process Move More Quickly.

Questions to ask before Writing a Proposal
| |
| A lot of time gets wasted on proposal-writing. Before we invest this effort, there are some basic questions worth asking. Not only do these questions filter out time-wasters, they actually enhance our chances of winning the bid.For example, most professionals are aware of the risk when our entire relationship with the client organisation hinges on one person. But do we consistently translate this into a strategy to build relationships with other key decision-influencers? A question such as “Who else has a key stake in the success of this?” can open some significant doors for the future.Learning to ask the right questions not only saves wasted time and effort, it enhances our credibility as potential suppliers. And it dramatically cuts down that awful task of chasing a proposal on which we have heard nothing since we sent it in.
