Entrepreneurs, VCs, and Peeing on a Burning Bush
Many surreal things have happened to me as I hang with entrepreneurs (including the time a runaway golf cart ran me over, but I digress). A recent incident, however, just joined the pantheon.

Money with Meaning: Living Your Life “On Purpose”
Why are you here? Why are you on the planet right now? Many people believe we each come into this life with a purpose, a reason for living. Considering that every element in nature has a specific purpose for existing, and we are an integral part of nature, it stands to reason that we have a purpose too.

The Everyday Common Miracle
Perhaps as a society we have become jaded and a tad spoiled by the miracles that surround us. We don’t see them as miracles; we simply see them as everyday occurrences.

When leadership is not enough
Some people see leadership as being the person in charge or the person in control. The mental image of a leader is the person with the most authority. But there are many examples of organizations and countries that have had leaders and not been successful. Look at the difference between George Bush as a leader and Tony Blair. Both were leaders of their respective countries. However, people largely believe that Tony Blair was more of a leader than George Bush. The truth is, failing organizations had people who were leaders just as much as successful ones have leaders. Hitler was a great leader and so was Saddam Hussein. They were not the type of leader that I would want to have in charge of a country I lived in or company I worked for, but they were leaders.

Obama on Leadership
After eight years of the Bush Administration and the last year of electioneering, the whole world watched in January, as the first African-American took the oath of office and became the 44th President of United States of America.

Prayer and purposeful action
I awoke early this morning to the sound of gentle rain falling and found myself immediately praying for more. This prayer came automatically during one of the most tragic weeks in Victoria’s history with the tragedy of the bush fires in many parts of our state. As a Victorian I have found myself upping my prayer quotient for rain for some time now, not just for the bush fires but for the many people whose lives are affected by the drought here and elsewhere. In addition to my prayers, like many families, my family and I have been doing our best to save water and change the size of our carbon foot print. Yet at times like this one can’t help but feel somewhat helpless and useless. All I felt I could do under the circumstances was to pray and give money.

Mobile Home Parks - Why Landscaping is the Best Investment You'll Make
Some people invest in Google. Some buy shares of Berkshire Hathaway. Other invest in Apple. But sheer investment geniuses invest in bushes. And trees. Because if you own a mobile home park community, these are, dollar for dollar, the best investments you will ever make. How good are the returns? I would estimate that one well placed $20 bush might add $1,000 of value to a mobile home park community. That's a 500% return on investment. And that's a lot better than any of the aforementioned stocks have produced lately. In fact, compared to the current stock market, if the bush was worth $10, it would still be better than the market has produced. And, unlike the market, at least the bush creates oxygen and has other productive uses.

Gas Price Signs: Unfair Right-Wing Messaging!
Gas has never been this expensive in America - and experts say this is just the beginning. But wasn't this all supposed to be George W. Bush's fault? As I recall, Bush, somehow in cahoots with Big Oil and Terrorist Oil Cartels, single-handedly drove gas prices pretty high in 2008, and that's why we desperately needed to elect Barack Obama. But Bush has been gone for more than two years now, and gas is higher than ever. How could this be?
