| |
| Lois Kelly is the author of Beyond Buzz: The Next Generation of Word-of-Mouth Marketing. This is her explanation of the top nine types of stories that people like to talk about. If you’re pitching your company to investors, customers, partners, journalists, vendors, or employees and you don’t use at least one of these story lines, you probably have a problem. And most likely you’re too close to what you’re doing, so you think that you’re uniquely “patent-pending, curve-jumping, and revolutionary.” :-) |

| Richard’s last article, The Success Formula (Success = Results Delivered x Fulfillment Lived), generated a lot of interest, especially around the suggestion that to achieve true success, it is necessary to “make the abstract components of success tangible and definable.” Many readers asked how to achieve this task. To respond, Richard’s next few articles will address four steps to overcoming the challenges of understanding both variables in the Success Formula.
In the present article, he explains how to build a solid “Ideal Future State” – a reliable frame of reference that will act as a powerful beacon, guiding the ongoing decision-making process involved in achieving success.

The focused approach to search engine marketing

Why Selling Is Like Racquetball
| |
| I finally got back into my favorite sport – Racquetball. It’s been nearly four years since I played. When we moved from New Jersey to Las Vegas, there were no clubs nearby for me to join. But they finally opened a brand new health club not far from my home. So I joined and am back to playing my favorite sport 3 times a week. I really didn’t realize how much I missed it till I started playing again. I guess after being away from it for a while gave me a new perspective once I resumed playing again because I was suddenly aware of several interesting analogies between this fast-paced sport and selling. Make sure your football coaching mentally prepares you for the second half!
| |
| Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the process of creating models of excellence. Modelling is the complex activity of capturing in a learnable transferable code the differences that make a difference between an excellent performer and an average performer, between an excellent athlete and an average one, a person who is motivated to get the best out of themselves in training and one who is not. NLP, then, is the process of identifying, coding and transferring precisely those differences in a learnable form to the interested participants and companies to allow significant upgrading of their performance to levels of excellence.
Results in sport depend crucially on your ability to use your mind effectively. Many elite athletes say the mental aspects of sport make the difference between being a champion or not. |
