How does the complexity theory apply to business? (A Brief Dialogue)
Member Question: Has anyone applied complexity theory to business in a practical way? Asheville, U.S. My Response: The chaos theory and butterfly effect are interesting concepts in terms of the “complexity” of business. Over a number of years and through funding from the Government of Canada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program I developed a theory called strand commonality. In the area of supply chain practice for example (although the term “chain” is a misnomer in that it implies a sequential architecture instead of the synchronized architecture that represents the dynamic characteristics of different stakeholders within the real-world), one seeks to understand the unique operating attributes of individual stakeholders using an agent-based model.

Taking Charge of Your Life
How do you live your life? At cause or at effect? It is important to be aware of this distinction. It is the rare individual who always lives his or her life at cause; however, far too many of us live a large portion of our lives at effect - responding to the whims, desires or emotional states of others.

Evaluating the ‘Steve Jobs effect’
In a recent ChangeWave research firm survey, they inquired about the Steve Jobs “effect”? With his recent health disclosure and taking a leave of absence—amid speculation on whether Apple will stumble without him—ChangeWave asked consumers what effect it would have on their likelihood of buying Apple products if Jobs were to permanently step down as CEO

The Vacuum Effect!
The Vacuum Effect! It is interesting how similar situations appear as you go through life. I suppose when something happens once you become more aware of when it happens again. Introverts - More of a Transparent than Social Butterfly

A quick internet search will find you many photos of this beautiful butterfly. The transparent butterfly is more of a metaphor for an introvert than you might first think. No, not a social butterfly but more like the transparent creature.
