I want to warn readers that this article can, and hopefully will be, hazardous to the health of managers. It was written with the intention to both offend and challenge those who treat people as human cattle. I was inspired to write this article after speaking with two friends, one a mid-level employee and the other a senior executive with a company that was recently acquired by a corporate giant. Both calls were depressing, as these loyal and capable people were totally disengaged because their companies were so focused on the bottom line and, in their opinions, no longer cared about them. Worst yet, both of these individuals were considering leaving their organizations because of a genuine feeling that their respective companies no longer valued people.

My business, Cattle On 1000 Hills, bears a peculiar name since I do not sell land or cattle. Psalm 50:10 states: For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. God will never need our money but He desires our obedience. Upon discovering this fantastic home based Internet marketing business, I believed its name should be equally unusual. I wanted the name to point to the fact that God owns all we think is ours, all the material "stuff" we accumulate during our lives. We believe all that stuff makes us wealthy but as the old adage says: You can't take it with you.

Undoubtedly, you have wonder how this article could lead from the Dragon in my basement to my Internet business at Cattle on 1000 Hills. Well, the Dragon represents my former life of cold and darkness before this tremendous opportunity came into my life. Before this discovery, I trudged to work every day with little hope of any change in the status quo. Well, actually there was a huge change. I got laid off!
