Networking for Fun & Profit
Networking events can work for both business-to-consumer (B-to-C) and business-to-business (B-to-B) companies. Some of these events have a theme; such as industry (hospitality firms), descriptive (marketing firms), or location (businesses on the west side of town). Your local business press should print the networking groups in your area along with the day, time and location of their meetings. Many networking groups are local, while others are national lead exchange groups such as Le Tip and BNI.

How to make networking work for you.
Networking!! It’s a subject very close to my heart. I get a fair few clients from this method of marketing, which means that on average I attend between 5-8 networking events per month. But just what is networking and how can you make it work for you?

Posting relevant comments on blogs is networking
I happen to think that many small business folks would find networking on the web as valuable as networking at, say, the next Chamber event. There are many ways to do networking on the web but I happen to think one of the easiest is to participate in blogs you enjoy by frequently posting relevant content. Blog comment posting is very much like standing around chatting with a group of folks at a networking event (except you don’t have to balance the Swedish meatball plate on your wine glass.)

Should you join a networking group?
Someone told me a couple of years ago that there were over 300 networking groups in the UK each with their own networking events – who knows what the situation is right now? The number of networking groups has grown exponentially while I’ve been in business and what’s more each of them has a membership structure where you can potentially join the group. So, should you join a networking group and if so, which one would be the best for you?

Effective Networking = Business/personal Success
I quite positive I am not the first and will not be the last person to tell you that you can accelerate your business and personal success by effectively building and maintaining your network. “You need to network more,” anonymous Marketing consultant. “Stop cold calling, start networking,” anonymous Sales Trainer. “Go to more networking events,” anonymous Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “Pass out more business cards,” anonymous Professional Association President.

What exactly is social media marketing?
Social media marketing is really no different than social networking off the internet. When you attend a trade show or a company event, you are networking in a social environment with the desired result being to increase your customer base. Companies that sponsor golf outings, company picnics and other social events, often invite employees, customers and potential customers. What do these three groups of people do at these events? They socialize and network. Although some may develop friendships at such events, the main reason for and ultimate goal of such events is to increase the bottom line - meaning the company's profits.

Why Some Networking Events May Not Be Right For You
I've been to two networking events this week that have got me thinking. I constantly stress the importance of understanding why you are going to networking events if you want to make the most from them. That awareness can direct your planning, your behaviour at the event and your follow up and lead to much stronger results.

Preparation Precedes Prosperity When It Comes To Networking Too
Networking events can be a powerful way to identify the people you need to connect with. We’ve all heard this before. But have you gone to business networking events not knowing anyone and not knowing what to do once you get there?
