| Why are charity fundraisers beneficial to businesses? Companies gain credibility when fundraising for charitable causes, especially when charity promotional products are used. Promotional advertising is effective for promotions like dinner fundraisers, sponsorships, gift donations, and community events because both the nonprofit organization and the business receive exposure. |

| Think of all the ways that companies use branding to build awareness of themselves or to promote their social awareness and customer service values. A few things come to mind such as greeters at the entrance of my favorite store, go-green awareness issues, charity drives that "give back" to the community for every purchase made, TV screens playing music videos or news as you wait in line, and the list goes on.
None of these things lead directly to conversions but they do lead to higher company awareness and the good old fashioned fuzzy-feelings we get when we know that that we are valued as a customer. Most times we are probably not even be aware of these things on a conscious level. But the effect shows as we have a tendency to patron these companies more frequently than the other alternatives.

| "I love Toby. He's my oldest son, he's Vice President of Sales but he just doesn't get it. My daughter should be running this business, she's brilliant but she's married to a surgeon and doesn't want anything to do with wholesale distribution. | Donations in the form of cash or gifts in kind made to a registered charity or other qualified donees may reduce your taxes. A list of registered charities is provided on CRA's website. The receipt for your gift should include the value of the consideration given. If you receive something in return such as an event ticket, for example, you must deduct the value of this "advantage", as CRA calls it, from the eligible amount of your donation. The other important thing to keep in mind is that your donation receipt should include the registration number of the charity. Otherwise, it is not an official donation receipt for tax purposes. |

| Let's face it, people like to associate themselves with businesses and brands that support causes.
When embarking on a charity initiative, consider the sort of giving that you'd like to be involved in and why you're doing it. If corporate charity is undertaken as an obligation or as a means of self-promotion, this will show through in your efforts, and no matter how great your giving, it will be seen as less than sincere. |
