How can you know a real leader when you see one? What do real leaders do that define them as leaders? Many people may consider themselves leaders, but in reality do not demonstrate principles of leadership and are not leaders at all. In today’s world there are many imposters posing as leaders. The term leader is used and dare I say misused quite often in our society today. Leaders are mentioned in the context of community; family; business; church, local, state and federal government; an organization; or some other institution or group. But how many of those mentioned as leaders really possess the essential qualities of a passionate, powerful and proven leader? In order to determine the answer to that question, Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach believes one needs to define the term leader by listing the attributes or qualities necessary to earn the title of leader. Here is a list of eight essential qualities that I believe define a passionate, powerful and proven leader.

Many Churches do Not Have the Proper Insurance
Being a member of a Church that is improperly insured can lead to a catastrophic outcome if a lawsuit occurs. Concerns arise for Church Insurance, Religious Organization Insurance, Pastoral Liability and Institutional Insurance, regardless of sect. A lawsuit of any size or nature can cripple a religious organizations existence in exorbitant legal fees.

How do Churches Cope with the Recession?
Some scoffers find it hard to believe that churches not only get through hard times but that they actually grow in members and tithes and “donations” from existing church members. The press has always been antagonistic towards the Christian church so what I say here will probably be fodder for some good laughs for non-believers, but I will say it anyway. It is not their favor that I seek.
Identifying Potential Leaders
I want in on that ability. I think God is seeing that potential in our church today, but He often uses me and leaders like me to find them.

Does Recession Hinder Churches?
When people are hurting financially, spiritually, grieving a loss, and going through other hard times, they will often turn to the church for guidance even if they are not church-goers. Most churches have benevolence committees and funds used to help the needy year round but from Thanksgiving on through the holidays, more requests come in for help than any other time of year. With the recession, churches are being hard hit for assistance. Some churches have food pantries, clothes closets; some can help with power bills, pay for medicine and other ways in which the needy require and request help. When church members are hurting from similar experiences, their church families will surround them with love and whatever assistance they might need. My church in the past has paid my heating bill because I got laid off and needed help.
Growing Other Leaders
The best leaders understand and accept their mandate to grow other leaders. The reason there are not more excellent leaders in this world is that there are not enough good mentors. This article discusses growing leaders and the concept of mentorship.

Monkey See - Monkey Do
Have you ever stopped to think about how important our role as leaders and a mentors is in the eyes of the people with whom we associate. Whether it is at within your family, work, church, or professionally. My dad explained it this way, he indicated that it was what they called role modeling, and children especially, will do exactly as they see versus what they are told to do. Psychologists call it, "monkey see, monkey do”.

Leadership with a Small "L"
There have been only a few great leaders in our lifetime. Leaders like Reagan, Churchill, Disney, and Welch to mention a few. They could never have risen to the hieghts they did without the many small "L" leaders that backed them up. It is from the pool of small "L" leaders that the great leaders emerge.
