What's Culture Got To Do with It?
| |
| A beautifully crafted strategy can fail when the employees in various divisions within an organization clash. Logically, we think that strategy should drive behavior, but, in reality, it's the culture—underlying norms, values, belief systems—that dictates how effectively people work together. Employees' behavior has direct impact on the bottom line, costs, revenue streams, level of productivity, customer satisfaction, even the brand—every aspect of the business is affected. If strategy and culture are not aligned, the culture may support behaviors that conflict with what has to get done—and actually block execution of the strategy. |

Should I Stay or Should I Go?
| |

If patterns of dysfunctional behavior are following you around, take a look at the common denominator: it's YOU! |

| |
| When composing emails, you are much more productive if you think and write from the reader's perspective. This simple solution is easier said than done. An officer in charge of a U.S. Navy Shipbuilding facility calls this fundamental change a "force multiplier." He personally models this approach and coaches his staff to do the same – because the benefits are both immediate and significant. |

Learning Organizations is Action Oriented
| |
| Execute. Implement. Stop talking and do something. Actions speak louder than words. If you have a learning organization, it needs to be a doing organization too. No matter how you put it, the evidence is rolling in: The distinction between so called “old economy” and “new economy” companies are overblown. Regardless of industry, knowing what to do isn’t enough. Those companies and business units that dominate their competitors win by turning knowledge into action. |

Clash of the Titans II
| |
| We thought we had put the Clash of the Titans behind us but Hollywood made a
sequel. It gave the PC/CE industry an opportunity for the industry titans to
stretch their control over the landscape even more. Titans are taking the opportunity
to payback those who bruised their egos, encroached on their "territories" and
just did things they didn't like. The Titan Titans -- Apple, Google, Adobe --
are hollering at each other with regularity. The other Titans are mumbling and
filing law suits. Everyone -- including governmental agencies around the globe
-- is watching closely to see who is doing what and to whom. |
