Big Ideas Launched By Big PR on CNBCs Hit Show
Just about every guest on the very popular business program “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch” on CNBC, 10pm ET, cites ONE thing that propelled his or her business. What was it? Publicity-PR! It’s the one common theme that runs through the entire program. If you want to get your company “on the radar” then put PR in to your plan.

Mobile TV\'s Messed-Up Marketing
For reasons unbeknownst to me (okay, almost certainly hoping I'd say nice things about their phone and service), Sprint bestowed on me a freebie phone some time back, as well as a full-service package of voice, video, and data. I've cheerfully taken advantage of having a second mobile phone -- it comes in useful when in the car on long conference calls and needing to order take-out pizza -- but I have to confess that one aspect of it has surprised me.

The strategies, tactics, and advice in Mavericks at Work grew out of in-depth access to a collection of forward-looking companies. Credit Cards, Preference Reversals, and Debt
My friend Herb argued in a recent column -- and I'm paraphrasing here -- that "debt is high and the end is nigh". I cordially disagreed with him on CNBC during one of our twice-weekly on-air visits, in part because I'm more sanguine about debt, about people's general competence to make basic financial decisions, and about changes in the economy that have made it rational for people to have more debt than they did in the past. I'm also considerably less convinced about the quality of the NIPA data (it overstates expenditures, and understates income) etc.

WallStreet.com Up For Auction: Is Money Worth More Than Sex?
Ah, the age-old question: Is money worth more than sex? We get the latest test tomorrow, with the WallStreet.com domain going up for auction, a scant six months after porn.com sold for $9.5-million. Moniker, which is handling the auction, claims to have a $4 to $5-million reserve.

Video Killed the Video Star
In my mind and in my car, we can't rewind we've gone too far Oh-a-aho oh, Oh-a-aho oh Video killed the radio star. -- "Video Killed the Radio Star", The Buggles

Eyes Wide Open
I'm sitting in my hotel room in Palo Alto after 20 hours of travel from Hampshire, England. Amy and I took our Q3 vacation in the English countryside at the Hampshire Four Seasons where we had a glorious week off of the grid. I find myself really wanting to be tired, but I am so far beyond tired that I'm wide awake well past midnight California time.

A New Year's Observation
It takes all kinds. That’s something we’ve noticed in the past year in the news, with Bernard Madoff topping it off. We have a saying in construction when the structure of a building is completed--a ‘topping off party’ to signify the top floor has been put in place. Somehow, the past year got its own topping off party but not in the best sense.

Narayan Murthy is one of India's most well-respected entrepreneurs and the founder of the immensely successful Infosys - one of India's first billion dollar software companies. Here's an interview of his I was privileged to attend.

Interest Rates and Politics

Is This Stock Market Rally Believable?
I admit I am far too guilty of trying to rationalize what my eyes are seeing as the market seems to defy gravity and continues to move higher. I usually laugh when I see some respected pundit or the CNBC zoo-crew provide a reason for market movement (almost always after the fact) as the answer is usually never as complicated as they make it out to be.

Obama Stock Analyst Turned Currency Analyst
China's calling for a super reserve currency as the Fed and Treasury stack on trillions of dollars in US debt. While I don't think China will get their wish for a new global reserve currency anytime soon, I feel their pain. Once foreigners stop buying our debt, we're in big trouble!

Wo Can You Trust?
Many so called experts droppped the ball on predicting the credit crisis. So if you can't trust experts to put out reports that are grounded in reality, who can you trust? The answer is you've got to educate youself.

Real Estate and Currencies: Is There a Connection?
Veteran Financial Planner links the real estate market to currencies.

ATTENTION PresidentElect Obama Heres the Real Economic Rescue Plan
The economy is falling. Times are uncertain. Many people are in crisis. What's the answer? Will the government bail us out? When will it kick in? How will it affect us? No one knows the answers, and with all due respect; even President-Elect Obama doesn't know these answers. What's the real answer? The real answer is that a collective bailout will require each and every one of us to participate in our own rescue.

Shining Star-the Africa Report
I recently caught another episode of the Africa Report , which appeared on The Africa Channel. The show was so good that I decided to share with you some general feedback.

11 reasons to reject the recession and grow your business
Watching CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and the other media you keep hearing about the “green shoots” in the economy. This can be seen with things like the Federal Stimulus program beginning to gain momentum, clear direction with the resolution to the bankruptcies of GM and Chrysler, the level of fear about the economy subsiding, housing sales starting to stabilize and unemployment stabilizing. So it’s time to put the recession behind us and get on with it.

Politics and Storage
One of the disadvantages of travel, particularly air travel today is time spent waiting, however, instead of worrying about lost time waiting, time waiting can also be time to think, ponder, watch CNN, FOX, CNBC, BBC, Sky, or what ever your preference, think and ponder some more.
