Thoughts: Our Greatest Addiction?!
Thoughts don't require an external stimulus to be elicited, which means we can indulge in any thought repeatedly - at any time we choose. As human beings we experience and enjoy a VARIETY of emotions on a daily basis, yet we also innately seek FAMILIARITY...even if it's NOT positive. The emotions we experience consistently become a part of our comfort zones and our identities...as they are habitually conditioned into our lives. Until we get conscious about them we remain victims to these patterns.

As you read it, just look at the descriptors that the client is referencing in the personality assessments - they are not sales descriptors so, in essence, we have another examples of an assessment that claims to be measuring one thing but is actually measuring another:

This is about the changes which are to be made in the light of your learning. It encourages the application of your learning so as to improve your every day practice and behaviour. It is not about recording a good intention only. You may wish to set another SMART goal to reflect the action you are going take. What action you will take may depend on your level of motivation to make the desirable changes.

Howard Gardner is the John H. and Elisabeth A.Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
