Recently, I had a profound epiphany. I was in a new situation – doing something new for the first time. A women whom I will call Rita, treated me in a way that I didn’t like. I was sensing disapproving thought forms from her, which added to my own insecurity. I thought about it, and I asked myself if I have ever had disapproving thoughts towards others in a new situation....
2nd Annual Beyond the Tears Humanitarian Awards, 2008
Not even the crazy downpour/storm that hit New York on September 6th, 2008 could stop the Second Annual Beyond the Tears Humanitarian Awards. And, while the legendary Apollo theater was not filled to capacity, the show was nothing short of perfection! The second annual event began with the very funny, Nollywood handsome actor and comedian, Francis Duru welcoming the audience. His jokes through out the evening was the icing to a great evening. After his welcome remarks, Duru introduced members of the SACAIDS, the non-profit responsible for producing the event.

No Laughing Matter.. or is it?
A zillion more job cuts, no credit available, healthcare costs keep rising, and on and on and on. No laughing matter for sure… well, maybe. I contend that taking this economic downturn or any form of adversity 100% seriously won’t help you reverse your situation any faster, so you might as well laugh a little along the way. An upturned mouth is a must in a downturn economy. Hey, laughter is free and convenient – can’t beat that in today’s market! In that spirit, here are a few of my favorite one-lines from comedian Steven Wright:
