4 Commitments That Can Impact Your Success
| |
| Have you ever made a commitment to yourself or someone and for whatever reason, didn’t follow through? There are numerous definitions for the word “commitment.” The most basic definition is an “act of voluntarily taking on and fulfilling obligations”. This is further specified as a “personal” commitment, as opposed to a professional or organizational commitment. The voluntary nature of a personal commitment is what makes it so personal. However, this does not mean that a commitment has to relate only to personal interests, such as human relationships or core beliefs. Any objective can be approached with a personal commitment. A commitment can be given to any number of projects and causes, including an organization, a team, a faith group, or to another person. |

Integrity as a Catalyst
| |
| Integrity has always been one of the qualities I admire and respect most in others. The definition of integrity is: The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness. Simply put, someone who lives in integrity honors their personal values - actions and choices align with an internal code. There is nothing inside that is divided; they are whole. Honesty is another dimension to integrity -- spoken words reflecting the inner world without distortion. Integrity is also about honoring your word and following through with commitments. defi |

Become an Organized Caregiver: Master the Art of Herding Cats
| |
| Recently I received a call from a woman who attended my Balancing Work & Eldercare Needs seminar about a year ago asking if I would email or fax to her the information on "Mastering the Master Schedule". Apparently, with 2 kids entering middle school, she was feeling overwhelmed - much the same way she did when taking care of her father - like she was herding cats! She said she remembered how much the master schedule had helped her and her sister organize their father's care and thought it would be perfect to get her children's schedule under control, too!! |

Starting New Habits is Uncomfortable … But Necessary for Success!
| |
| Well I survived my first day of my new commitments, and you know what?
It wasn't that bad!
I'm not saying that it was easy. If I did ... I'd be lying!
Every time we start new habits it is very uncomfortable, but if we continue to do things the same way over and over and follow our old habits ... we can expect to live with the uncomfortable feeling of never achieving more. In my opinion, the second we stop striving to become better, we begin to die.
You tell me ... What could be more uncomfortable than death? |

Lesson #1: Success Doesn’t Happen Overnight
| |
| “I think a lot of people, friends included, were saying, ‘I know you're a believer in this and all, but you know, sometimes no matter how hard you believe it just doesn't happen. Maybe you should kind of give up the ghost and try something else,’” recalls Case. While he can look back on the early stages of his career now and laugh, at the time, it was no laughing matter. Case was struggling to become a success, to find his niche and to make a name for himself in an industry in which he saw limitless potential. “I just believed, and so I kept doing it…we're going to make this happen. We were going to stick with it.” |

Lesson #2: Commitments Never Come Without a Cost
| |
| “It is sometimes said that the people are ahead of the politicians; it can also be said that journalism ought to be ahead of the people. Otherwise, the people are ill-served,” said Luce. “As a journalist, I am in command of a small sector in the very front trenches of this battle for freedom.” |

Bottom Line: This is Not the Bottom of the Financial Crisis

Make Change Stick with the Dial Up/Dial Down Game
| |
| At my company we have an exercise we call "Dial Up/Dial Down." We use it to push each other to constantly develop our strengths and improve on our weaknesses. We introduce it to clients too. You can use in your own office, in your family, with a buddy, or in any kind of group that cares about each other's success. You can do it alone, of course, but it's not nearly as effective when there's no one to hold you accountable. |

Five reasons to Mind Your Emotions
| |
| “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says ‘I’ll try again tomorrow’.”
This quote more often than not reflects my life as an entrepreneur, business woman, sales person, mother, partner and friend. On those days and nights when I feel overwhelmed and sometimes exhausted by all my responsibilities and commitments that little voice reminding me to ‘try again tomorrow’ keeps me focused on why I am doing what I am doing – it helps me to continue to cultivate my resilience, to continue to put one foot in front of the other, to make decisions and to keep on moving. If I am ever in doubt, that little voice reminds me of all the other challenges I have mastered and that my track record speaks for itself. |

Sales Training Closing the Sale
| |
| More books have been written on closing than any other function in the sales process.
At each stage of the sale we get commitment to move forward so that when it comes time to ask for the decision it is a natural, logical and positive outcome. The commitment advances the sale
The commitment must be to take an action; without getting a commitment on action the sales process will only go into “continuation” That is, it will potter on and on, till it finally peters out.

Building a Leadership Team - Part 3
| |
| Talent is necessary for building a winning leadership team, but talent is not sufficient. You can recruit the very best in every functional area of responsibility in your organization, but unless they work well together, you will fail to create sustainable value. And in a competitive environment, you will lose to teams with far less talent if they work well together but you don’t. There is a tongue in cheek axiom that comes as a corollary to this – “I’d rather be lucky than good.” If you believe in blind luck, go with God and stop reading. If you believe we make our own luck, I’d like to share three principles for creating a great leadership team and some practical insights into each: agreement on the mission, clear communication, and balance.

Why can't I ever finish anything? Why do I procrastinate so much?
Most of us think we are simply lazy when we procrastinate. But the truth is that the cause of most procrastination isn’t laziness; it’s fear. | |
| Prove that what you have is sellable. You have to pick something you can develop on a small budget and sell in a reasonable amount of time. What is missing in these often empty exercises is that trust is personal. It is emotional. It is earned. It is a foundation that is built-one brick at a time. |
