CPM – Does it makes any sense any more?
CPM has been and always will be the most commonly used mechanism for advertisers to generate brand awareness albeit in different forms. But does the CPM model makes sense any more? My take is that it will survive but with significant enhancements. The CPM model would be super charged with sophisticated hyper targeting and contextual analysis technologies and will herald the new age of advertising models

Contextual Advertising
About contextual advertising and how it works.

Questioning Parked Domains and Google AdNonSense
Is contextual advertising helping or hurting the web? It basically started with Google Adsense even though the concept wasn’t new. It had never been done on the scale that Google did it. Now we have Yahoo Publisher. MSN is building their version. We have Konterra and a whole lot of other companies scrambling to cash in on the contextual ad craze.

Google AdSense and Optimizing the Context of your Copy
The ability to have a sort of Google AdWords on your own site through its AdSense program and collect revenue from clickthroughs seems to me to be an exciting opportunity. Google seems to put quite a bit of emphasis on the fact that they consider context and not just keyword matching to determine which pages get matched with which AdSense sponsors - the better the content of the web page, the better quality sponsors that will be assigned to that web page. Apparently, the higher quality sponsors have higher payout amounts for clickthroughs as well.

Are You an SEO Link Opportunist?
Link opportunities are abundant if you know where to look. Sometimes there is value in linking outside the box as your site is only as strong as its weakest link. The point is, you have to know where to look for trustworthy, authority or contextual links that provide tactful advertising or serve to ethically build quality links back to your content (such as a Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, etc.) Even links from a from a semi-related page with an authority position is priceless to augment trust to your link profile.

Stress-Free Selling® - Tough Economy, Tough Competition
On May 15, the New York Times reported that starting this Fall, Turner TV is offering advertisers spots that capitalize on the content of the movies! Hearing this, AMC cable network created Audience Identity Metrics so they can offer packages to advertisers that are tailored to the behavior of the consumers who watch those movies. Contextual online advertising is commonplace, and while online advertising grows, it is changing the way advertisers think about traditional print media. Publishers Information Bureau recently reported consumer magazines ad revenue decreased 1.2% the first quarter 2008 and ad pages sank 6.4%. This is a brief State of the Advertising Industry. Neuroscience and Gender Differences
One remarkable difference between genders is the way that men and women tend to think. Psychologists report that when women cogitate, they gather details somewhat differently than men. Women integrate more details faster and arrange these bits of data into more complex patterns. As they make decisions, women tend to weigh more variables, consider more options, and see a wider array of possible solutions to a problem. Women tend to generalize, to synthesize, to take a broader, more holistic, more contextual perspective of any issue. They tend to think in webs of factors, not straight lines, so I coined a term for this broad, contextual, feminine way of reasoning: web thinking.
