Telus’ Leadership Lesson in Brand Mismanagement
Telus, Canada’s second largest phone company, decided to be the first wireless provider to offer to sell downloads of pornographic images and videos. I’ll leave it to others to debate the morality of pornography on the Internet. The issue I want to tackle is how ‘leadership’ in such a large company decided this was a good business decision…

What Gandhi said
Gandhi (Mohandas Gandhi, 1869 to 1948) said that one of the seven deadly “sins” (as he described them) of the modern world was “Commerce without Morality”. What did he mean by this and is it true?

Part 1 - After the ball is over
The ball is very definitely over. A good time was had by all but what a mess to cleanup! This cleanup has been compounded by the errant behaviour of some of the leaders and organizers of the ball: unbounded greed, ethical standards have been eroded, personal values have been overturned, virtues have been diminished to the point of ridicule, morality has been questioned, integrity has been ignored, trust forgotten and the meaning of life seems to have been lost. This cleanup will be a massive task.

Why Have We Always Done It THAT Way?
As you're continuously challenged to achieve more with fewer resources, at some point you start to wonder if you're trying to squeeze blood from a turnip. While it may not be possible to get vegetables to bleed, there are still countless opportunities to find a better way. What keeps us from pursuing them? Tiger Woods’ Unconventional Crisis Management Deserves An A Grade.
In managing a crisis, conventional wisdom commands to talk to the media as quickly as possible, tell what you know, tell it all and promise more as soon as more information is known. As Tiger Woods copes with what he calls his "personal failings," his one car accident on November 27, 2009 at his estate, some have suggested he employs the conventional wisdom of crisis management. See Magic Johnson on Larry King, December 4, 2009. Tiger Woods has so far resisted, choosing instead to employ an unconventional approach for which, in my opinion, he deserves an A in crisis management.

Advertising through Internet is not only cheap, but also gives way to different avenues, and greater interaction with customers. Internet-based advertising coupled with the conventional form can definitely have people talking about your business.

Thoughts On Google And China
Google’s decision to second-guess its relationship with China has raised some interesting questions recently. Namely, whether Google’s decision sprang from their moral opposition to censorship, or simply from a decreased financial interest in a country with a much more popular search engine, known as Baidu. So far, the controversy appears to be more of a commercial, as opposed to a political dilemma. A private, business-related concern. But whenever the question of morality, of a battle between good (Google) and evil, comes into play in the news, you can be sure that the blogosphere will start freaking out.

Investor Options
Raising capital is never easy. Conventional financing options are running thin and banks close their doors to a lot of lending right now. However, within conventional financing methods exists an arena of creative financing.

Computer, Printer, All in One, Typewriter Repair Perplexity-To Toss or Not to Toss
Have you ever wondered if your computer, printer, fax machine, all in one, or even typewriter is worth repairing? The conventional wisdom is toss it out and buy a new one. How do you know where conventional wisdom leaves off and common sense begins? Here are a few ideas.

The Creative Resume
Unless you are applying for a very conventional job with a conventional employer who will not appreciate a creative resume, you want a job resume that will set you apart for the other individuals vying for the job. You want a resume that is creatively smart and will best reflect your qualifications, giving you the opportunity to sell yourself to a potential employer.
