| |

The Top Ten Ways to Use Your Female Advantage in Business
| |
| The conventional wisdom has been that women have trouble succeeding because they don't act like men. But playing it like a man doesn't work, because it brands you as tough and aggressive. And it's stupid for the most basic reason. We're not men. And that's an advantage.
It's common sense to be authentic, and it's smart branding. Your personal brand must come from who you are and what makes you tick - including your strengths and aptitudes as a woman. |

Tiger Woods’ Unconventional Crisis Management Deserves An A Grade.
| |
| In managing a crisis, conventional wisdom commands to talk to the media as quickly as possible, tell what you know, tell it all and promise more as soon as more information is known. As Tiger Woods copes with what he calls his "personal failings," his one car accident on November 27, 2009 at his estate, some have suggested he employs the conventional wisdom of crisis management. See Magic Johnson on Larry King, December 4, 2009.
Tiger Woods has so far resisted, choosing instead to employ an unconventional approach for which, in my opinion, he deserves an A in crisis management.

Common Sense and Success
| |
| We are all born with five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. These senses help us navigate our way through the world. They bring us delight in small things. They also warn us when danger threatens. However, I believe that we all have a sixth, and underused sense, our common sense. Your common sense helps you make the right decision in ambiguous situations -- but only if you use it. When I tell people that I'm the Common Sense Guy, people often come back with Will Rogers' saying, "Common sense isn't all that common." I disagree. I think that we all have innate common sense. It's a natural gift, just like our five other senses. We don't always use it though. If you are willing to let your common sense guide you today, you can use it as a guide tomorrow, the next day, next week and next month. |
