International Unsecure Business Loan
| |
| Gaining an international unsecure business loan is sometimes a must. The benefits of having these loans are in gaining funds quickly and not having to liquidate assets to gain the funding you need.
Typically, an international unsecured business loan will be granted by an institution to corporations, financial institutions and high net worth individuals. High interest rates and the fact that these loans are unsecure will generally prevent Joe Taco Stand from taking out one of these. And they are probably doing Joe a favor. The interest rates are incredibly high (11-22% in some cases) and why Joe would want a $1.5 million loan at 22% is beyond me to begin with. Nope, for most people an international unsecure business loan is out of reach.

Should the UK and the Eurozone adopt America’s Chapter 11 format for bankruptcy?
| |
| In America, when a company gets into difficulty it can file for what is called Chapter 11 which is named after the U.S. bankruptcy code 11. Chapter 11 is a form of bankruptcy that involves a reorganisation of a company's business affairs and assets and it generally filed by corporations that require time to restructure their debts.
In essence, Chapter 11 gives the company a fresh start, subject to the company's fulfillment of the obligations under its plan of reorganisation. Whereas in the UK, for example, a company has to either go into receivership or liquidation.
Where a company goes into liquidation the business ceases and the company's directors appoint a liquidator to sell the assets of the company in order to pay off as many of it's creditors as is possible. |

Don't be a Scrooge. Charitable giving is critical to your community and business
| |
| For the business owner, charitable giving can be a challenging subject in business planning. How much to give? Who to give to? Can we give each year even if our company isn't doing as well as before due to the recessionary economic environment? Many questions have to be resolved. But making a commitment to annual charitable donations and involvement and standing by it -- for your community and your employees -- can be immensely rewarding. |

What will be the Future of Work?

However, we will need to become one person incorporations that have a proven, certifiable, virally marketable set of skills. All brand development, marketing and sales will need to be done by ourselves and at our own expense. |

CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN EITHER MAKE OR BREAK YOU BUSINESS.
| |
| When it comes to understanding the importance of good customer service, there are many small business owners who wonder why it is so important; why such a large focus should be placed on it. In all honesty, without trying to come across too harsh, if you don’t already know the importance of customer services, especially when it comes to running a small business, maybe you should re-think and have a diffuse understanding on your decision to be a small business owner. Yes, it is really that simple. As a business owner, you need to remember that your customers are what keep your business doors open; they are the reason why you have food to put on your table each week, and the reason why you receive a paycheck, they are the the life blood of your sales When you think about it like that, there is lots you are owning your customers. |

| |
| Sales reps often represent the "face" of your company. Further to this I would like to add that a CRM should also be in tune with your customers needs helping them have the best experience they can have with you. |

Incorporation Separating Fact From Fiction
| |
| One of the most common questions I receive is should I Incorporate and will it mean I can deduct more on my tax return. The question comes up when I teach classes for small business owners and prospective new business owners. It also comes up at in email and phone calls I receive from clients and prospective clients on a regular basis.
Many of those asking the question start with "I heard that if I incorporate I can deduct all my expenses and I will pay less in taxes".
Although there are many reasons for Incorporating a business it's always important to do it for the right reasons and to understand the real costs, benefits and drawbacks. To do this it's important to start out by separating fact from fiction.

Out with the old and in with the new…
| |
| Common Communication Strategies
It has been my experience over the last 10 years most corporate intranets are modeled in the following fashion; new information comes into the intranet group and is then coded and released for general consumption. Before information is released to the internal network it will go through a variety of checks and balances, approvals and re-edits, before finally “landing on the desk” of the intranet team. It is then coded and released in priority order. This model relies exclusively on the intranet team to get messages and information out to employees. Does this sound familiar? |

But then, only a few dozen were extraordinary. The vast majority were pretty much just “OK”. Not great, not terrible.
And one would think that after all this time and experience I’d be getting better at my choices. And yet, I still hit and miss. Here is the distinction: I’ve learned to accelerate through my mistakes. |

RELATIONSHIP SELLING – PART II (TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS)

Establishing and maintaining trusted client relationships without trying to sell them anything, requires a lot of patience and a constant struggle against the temptation to start selling. |

The Dominican Corporation
| |
| The most common business entity in the Dominican Republic is the corporation, locally called “Sociedad Anónima” (S.A.) or “Compañía por Acciones” (C. por A.). As corporations in other countries, Dominican corporations are legal persons which exist independently of its shareholders. Likewise, the liability of the shareholders is limited to the amount of their contribution to the corporation.
The Dominican Commercial Code provides for the existence of other business entities such as partnerships (“sociedad en nombre colectivo”), limited partnerships(“sociedadesencomandita”)and joint ventures (“sociedades en participación”). These structures, however, are seldom used because they are subject to the same tax treatment as corporations while lacking its limited liability component. |

Is having a website a requirement in the RFQ RFP process today
| |
| Member Question:
I have a question, for those actively participating in the RFQ & RFP process today.
We had a client request we put up one page of his newly developed site, even though it was in the production phase and not close to finalization. He requested we upload one page, disconnect the links, and post. In further discussion he explained, having a website was part of a RFQ submission requirement. Both concerned are privately held corporations and both in the US.
Has this become a standard requirement in the RFQ/RFPprocess? If so, in what cases and industries is it required?
My Response:
The statement that “having a website was part of RFQ submission requirement,” demonstrates that the “myths” surrounding discredited supply chain practices continue to persist.

Annual Government Filings & Minutes - Corporate Maintenance and Compliance

All too often there are accounts of entrepreneurs starting a business, incorporating that business, then failing to comply with various government imposed formalities and filings. There are many ongoing government requirements that small business owners need to comply with, namely: annual government reports/returns and fees, notice of a name change, notices of change of registered office, directors and in certain jurisdictions, their shareholders. These forms are different than tax related forms such as tax returns, GST/PST filings and payroll deductions. |

Consciousness Coaching ® - latest trend 2008
| |
| Executive Coaching is a great tool to support the skill and character development – but what do you do if you find your ego simply resists change? Like the body rejects anything that isn’t it’s own, the ego may reject likewise. Where it is not self discovered knowledge, second hand knowledge might be perceived by the ego as foreign like a splinter of wood by the body. The ego then rejects the affirmation, the great formulas and motivational phrases and gets rid of them whether we object to it or not.
So many seminar graduates and coaching clients are fighting an impossible battle against their ego; the mind says “I am confident, powerful and charismatic” and the ego says: “Yeah right, you fool!” ... |

| The mantra of the late 90’s and the first decade of the 21st century is “Be proactive.” And corporations are doing a fine job of being proactive in claiming ownership of the “work-life” discussion.
They’re doing this because when they launch the discussion first, they get to define the parameters—they get to make the rules.
Entrepreneurs and small business owners should not try to emulate what large corporations do. Instead, you should look towards owning your own work-life discussion.

| Cannibals With Forks?
“In our rapidly evolving capitalist economies, where it is in the natural order of things for corporations to devour competing corporations, for industries to carve up and digest other industries, one emerging form of capitalism with a fork – sustainable capitalism – would certainly constitute real progress.”

| |

Corporate Responsibility and the Environment
| |
| As corporations have got bigger and bigger, they have damaged the environment in different ways. The exploitation of the world’s resources through overmining, overfarming and overfishing is putting our future in doubt. As these shortages influence the market, corporations will have no option but to seek other ways of doing business. As marginal lands become deserts, fossil fuels run dry and fish stocks deplete, the necessity of a sustainable environment will become obvious. What we want is for companies to realise this obligation now, before it is too late. |

Balancing Work and Life
| |
| A major explanation for stress has been uncertainty in the workplace as a result of increased competition, changing local and international trade regulations, merging of corporations and technological advances. These changes have been experienced nationally and locally, Idaho included. For example, Micron's production and profits are directly affected by business practices and turmoil in East Asia. Zilog, Hewlett-Packard, Ore-Ida Inc. and other corporations constantly make major business adjustments to be profitable in an emerging and unpredictable environment.

The Corporation in the Year 2030
| |
| For several years now, I have continually puzzled over one question: “As regulations and costs collide with trends, and corporations adjust in order to stay viable – what will they become?” In other words, what will corporations look like in, say, 2030? |
