In Praise of Passion: Selling’s Secret Weapon
| |
| The stereotype many people have of salespeople is of an amoral hired gun. A sharp-suited, sharp-talking huckster who doesn’t care what he’s peddling as long as it brings in the money.
But in reality, the opposite is true of all truly successful salespeople: they have a real passion and belief in the products and services they sell.
This article explores the importance of passion - and how to incubate it in your sales team. |

Grand Intentions to Greater Sales
| |
| You’ve probably noticed that today’s consumer is better educated, streetwise, and, frankly, more cynical about other people’s motives than ever before. Consumers seem to be taking the advice that parents give their children: “Come straight home, and don’t talk to strangers!” Beyond telling employees to be friendly with customers, managers need to equip their staff with tools for establishing trust. Expressing your Grand Intention is an easy way to break through the barriers. |

Unintended Consequences of Hybrid Vehicles
| |
| I heard a "superb" cynical statement today. I have no idea if it is factually correct, have no data (empirical or anecdotal) to support it, but it is such a great potential example of unintended consequences that I thought it was worth putting out there. |

A Magical Selling tale
| |
| When I was a little girl I believed in fairy tales, magical kingdoms and a world where all your wishes came true if you wished for something hard enough. It didn’t take long to discover that life has a cruel way of shattering illusions and the adventures of life can cause a cynical hardening of aspirations in the face of adversity. |

Establishing Trust – How to Build Relationships and Make Them Work For You
| |
| After all that has happened in this economic turmoil it is no wonder that we all have become a little cynical. Building trusting relationships becomes more difficult for everyone. What are three things you must do to establish good relationships when you are networking? |

Re-Engaging the Workforce - How to Clean Up After the Economic Storm
| |
| As we start to make our way out of the depression/recession many companies are finding that their most critical asset, their workforce is MIA. The rash of downsizings, furloughs, and decreasing financial performance has left employees stunned, distrustful, and cynical. More typical HR offerings will do no good and hoping everything will work out on its own is a non-starter. You can't ignore it, you can't pretend it doesn't exist and that you don't know what to do doesn't mean you do nothing! This is a time when new bold action is required and the longer you wait the more difficult the challenge. Here is what to do to get your people back on board with you. |

Amazing Customer Service is not Extinct!
| |
| I am optimistic by nature and my cynical side is often suppressed to the point of being clueless according to people close to me. Amazingly, when it comes to customer service, I am very critical of most organizations. I do pay attention and take note of very small details about the service I and others receive. I have expectations that I be treated like I hope to treat the customers that I serve in my own business. |

Inspirational Leaders Are Masters of Appreciation
| |
| Don't get sucked into the cynical, mean-spirited misbehavior of your own personal crowd scene. Remember that you have a lot of good stuff of which you should be appreciative, and that whatever bad stuff you have to endure, if you really want to, you can change it. Take personal responsibility, and stand out from the crowd.

Are your listening skills costing you or making you money?
| |
| Who is really listening? … Genuinely, sincerely and honestly listening? I’m noticing a lot more telling and a lot less listening lately. You only have to watch the ABC program ‘Q&A’ to see the number of politicians who have great trouble listening – to anything except themselves. They interrupt others giving answers to questions that were never asked. No wonder we are a bit jaded and cynical. |

The world we share
| |
| We live in three worlds; the world in here, the world out there, and the world we share. In here our views are just that, out there are other people’s views. In the world we share are the views we agree on. In any successful relationship the world we share is the critical one.
I trust that today and every day you will resolve to build more of the world we share and be less precious about the world in here or the world out there. |
