| Some time ago, my associate, Krish Dhanam, and I were returning from an engagement in Tampa, FL, where we had spoken for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. The flight was uneventful; we landed at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, got our luggage and loaded it on one of the rental carts. The walk was fairly lengthy and the first two hundred yards were uneventful; then we came to the moving sidewalks. |

| As Ash’s sales for Stanley Home Products continued to increase, she began to recruit and train other salespersons to work with her. It was SHP policy that for every person Ash recruited, she would receive a small percentage of their sales revenue. Soon, Ash had over 150 women working for her. However, the success of Ash and her sales team quickly began to worry SHP executives, who promptly moved Ash to Dallas and refused to let her continue receiving commissions from her previous sales recruits. | What a tough year. I am sure most of you are glad it is over. The recession has had an impact on every one of us. But, now is the time to look back and be grateful; grateful for who you are and who you want to become. December, unlike years of the past was very busy for me. This is only because in prior years I always took the month of December off. This year due to the tough economy that just didn't seem like a good option. So, I spent time in Cleveland, Dallas, Tampa and Montreal. I froze in Cleveland & Montreal, didn't take a coat to Dallas and should have and I went to Tampa during Florida's coldest temperatures in years. Over the holidays Tracy and I visited friends in South Carolina and got to see a calf born on a cattle ranch and took our dog to the ocean. (It was way to cold to even consider swimming.)

Airport Parking, Tiered Storage and Latency

| Ok, so what do airport parking, tiered storage and latency have in common? Based on some recent travel experience I will assert that there is quite a bit in common, or at a minimum an analogy. What got me thinking about this was recently I could not get a parking spot at the airport primary parking ramp adjacent to the terminal (either a reasonable walk or short tram ride) which offers quick access to the departure gate.

Anyone who saw the Dallas Mavericks play the Miami Heat during the 2011 NBA Finals, witnessed how inner will and determination results in triumph.
In Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat was ahead by 15 points with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but when the final buzzer rang, they had lost. This was unheard of-Dallas went from embarrassment to triumph. The Miami Heat was primed to take a commanding 2-0 lead in Game 2. Yet, the Dallas Mavericks gained confidence and went on to win three more games in the series and became the NBA World Champions in 2011.
