Ever Dance the Google Dance?
| |
| For those who know Google well like us, the Google Dance is not a dance at all. It's when Google changes their ranking algorithm significantly to try to get better search results on a Google search. Google calls it 'improving the users experience'. Companies that depend on natural search listings on Google probably see it as the 'dodge the bullet' dance. They hope they don't get impacted much by the algorithm update. This comes along only 1-3 times a year and is referred to as the Google Dance and is NOT advertised in advance. |

Ten More Important “Lessons Learned” For Leaders, According To Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach
| |
| Building upon another article I wrote on important lessons learned for leaders, I thought about additional important “lessons learned” for leaders that could be shared. The potential reward and return on efforts related to the strategic action to identify the “lessons learned” from our experiences merits additional thought. I found another great quote to share to confirm the value and importance of the “lessons learned” approach. The following is a quote from John Keats. “Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid. Here are 10 more important "lessons learned" for leaders. |

Leadership Lessons Heard
| |
| Leadership lessons are abundant in both literature and life! The prevailing wisdom is to maximize the lessons that come from life experiences by turning them into a never-ending learning process. However, too often it is the lessons heard that serve as the practical learning model, thereby minimizing what gets practiced in successful organizations. |

How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To
| |
| Why am I penning an article titled "How I Learned To Dance And How You Can To?" Furthermore, why should you care? Good questions.
Do you remember when you were learning the latest dance steps as a teenager? You would get together with your friends and practice the latest steps. Remember the swaying of the hips, the popping of the fingers, clapping your hands, the fancy foot movements, singing along with the music and having so much fun and laughter making missteps. Oh, I intended to say mistakes and actually enjoying the mistakes because you knew they were a necessary process to learning the dance. |

A Lesson from a 4-Year-Old
| |
| If we were to conduct a poll among the readers of this column to determine how many of you
could sing or dance, I fear that we would receive the overwhelming message that the vast
majority of adults feel they have no talent in these areas. On the other hand, if we were to
conduct the same poll among 4-year-olds, we would find that virtually all of them are convinced
they can sing, and virtually all of them have confidence in their ability to dance.
