This is a time when new bold action is required and the longer you wait the more difficult the challenge. Here is what to do to get your people back on board with you.

Clearing up your past.....
Sometimes, we need to clean the slate of our past in order to create a fantastic new future. It’s just like planting a new garden – you have to remove some of the debris, stones and old weeds. We have all heard the phrase ‘you have to get rid of the old to make room for the new’.

Let’s Talk Trash
It is easy to generate enormous amounts of trash on a rehab project. These take up a huge space in containers and then there is always that last load that mysteriously turned up. Some folks will order a 40 yard debris box only to have the neighbors fill it up overnight with their old appliances and what not. Depending on the neighborhood the problem can be either better or worse. Before creating any construction debris, I have followed a policy of “a clean ship is a happy ship.”

Yeah but what's under the water?
Recently I was on board a beautiful new boat with a friend. While the boat looked absolutely stunning from everything I could see, the owner told me it was time to pull it out of the water and see what unwanted debris was hanging on under the surface. As any boat enthusiast knows, this is about the time of year when owners pull their boats out of the water and check for those things that are not easily seen from the top. Over time, various forms of debris accumulate on the hull. Foreign particles and parasites attach themselves to the hull, hoping for a free ride, but creating increased resistance to the smooth flow of water and slowing down the boat itself.

Financial Fact and Fiction
It is difficult to make good financial decisions even under the best of circumstances. There are a myriad of tools and an endless supply of information available to us, but it's difficult to sift through the debris and get to the true treasures that lie underneath.
