| What a tough year. I am sure most of you are glad it is over. The recession has had an impact on every one of us. But, now is the time to look back and be grateful; grateful for who you are and who you want to become. December, unlike years of the past was very busy for me. This is only because in prior years I always took the month of December off. This year due to the tough economy that just didn't seem like a good option. So, I spent time in Cleveland, Dallas, Tampa and Montreal. I froze in Cleveland & Montreal, didn't take a coat to Dallas and should have and I went to Tampa during Florida's coldest temperatures in years. Over the holidays Tracy and I visited friends in South Carolina and got to see a calf born on a cattle ranch and took our dog to the ocean. (It was way to cold to even consider swimming.)

| The Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007has only caught one victim – Lance Atkinson who in December 2008 was fined NZ$110,000 for being part of an “international spam email operation” (NZ Herald 23 December 2008). But does that mean that a NZ business that isn’t part of such an operation can safely ignore it? The answer is no, because people’s tolerance of spam is ever decreasing and with that there is an expectation that legitimate businesses will have email policies in place which comply with the Act. Not to have one exposes you to prosecution but perhaps more importantly could seriously damage your reputation in the marketplace. |

| I was inspired to write about Mary of Puddin Hill's company in Greenville, Texas for Mazon Associates, Inc. December 2011 newsletter, Building Bridges as our company purchased client Christmas gifts from Mary of Puddin Hill for the second consecutive year. Surprisingly, it just so happened that Mary Lauderdale's 86th birthday would have been on December 1st, the original date scheduled for publication; thus, a quick edit reflected this change. Most of this article was written from internet research; part from first-hand knowledge from their daughter, Pud Kearns; and from other research. I hope you will also be inspired by reading about this company. |
