Descriptive Trademarks
The title here is a bit misleading as descriptive words are not typically allowed to be registered on the USPTO’s trademark Principal Register. Let’s back up a little... One of the main points (some would argue THE main point) of having a Federal trademark is to have exclusive rights to a name, a logo or a slogan within your industry. Given that, words that “merely describe” the goods or services are not going to be allowed.

Networking for Fun & Profit
Networking events can work for both business-to-consumer (B-to-C) and business-to-business (B-to-B) companies. Some of these events have a theme; such as industry (hospitality firms), descriptive (marketing firms), or location (businesses on the west side of town). Your local business press should print the networking groups in your area along with the day, time and location of their meetings. Many networking groups are local, while others are national lead exchange groups such as Le Tip and BNI.

You know things aren't working out right just now, yet you can't put your finger on quite why. You know that your business could be performing better, but it isn't. It's easy to realise when things aren't going to plan and a great first step is to get really descriptive about the future.

The Real Problems with Today’s BtoB Customer Messaging and How to Solve Them
Numerous studies confirm that many business-to-business companies lose billions of dollars annually as a result of ineffective customer messaging. It’s not that companies are ignoring messaging. On the contrary, they spend significant time and money on company-, market-, and product-specific messaging — all for the most part descriptive rather than persuasive. The problem is that these companies need to focus a lot more of their messaging dollars on creating effective sales messaging, a new messaging category that, when implemented, consistently results in impressive gains in a company’s revenues and market share growth.

Twisted But True: High-Quality B2B Marketing Messaging Dramatically Reduces Sales and Marketing Effectiveness - Assess Your Messaging with This Five-Point Checklist

Well-conceived and -executed marketing messaging can actually reduce sales and marketing effectiveness. Many companies fail to meet their objectives because their marketing initiatives are lacking one essential element: persuasive sales messaging. Management and Mentoring with Congruence
This article is the third of a series of three covering the core conditions model developed by Carl Rogers and its application to Management and Mentoring. These core conditions were developed for use in Person Centred Counselling Psychotherapy and from my experience have great relevance to Management in general and my Mentoring practice in particular. The first two articles dealt with two of the core conditions in Roger’s model, namely Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) and Empathy. The third condition is however slightly more complex. In direct terms the word Congruence implies “Harmony” and in other definitions it is called “being Genuine”. However neither of these is fully descriptive of the concept being discussed here.
