Discernment: Discovering a Vision for the Future
It would be so much easier, I think, if I could really be the 'master of my destiny'. Yet, deep down I know that I'm a part of something much bigger than myself. To the extent that I can join the flow of that 'something', I find an energy within that makes even the most difficult engagements go almost effortlessly. On the contrary, when I fight it, even the simplest tasks take a herculean effort. Discernment allows me to come into alignment not only with my own destiny, but it creates a synergy between me and the rest of the world.

Maybe you (secretly) know what your true destiny is, but have gotten to a point where that spark of a vision has almost been extinguished. Maybe you have tried “everything” and feel that your “destiny” is one of mediocrity – living check to check, not having much of an impact.

Zig Ziglar says "You are free to choose, but the choices you make today will determine what you will have, be and do in the tomorrows of your life." Step right up & take a chance, no I am not urging you to buy a lottery ticket or play roulette. I am urging you to give yourself the chance to take a chance. How many times have you heard somebody say, “Well, I would have done it, but I never got the chance.” Or maybe “nobody would give me the chance to show what I could do.”
TV Stations - How Many “Likes” Do You Need?
Why do TV stations think bribing people to "Like" their facebook page for a chance to win an iPad has any long-lasting value? So I hit "like" and get a chance to win an iPad - so what? How many contests have you entered in your life you have totally forgotten about no matter how many direct mail pieces you received (and tossed)? Yes, the station can brag it has 7,500 "likes" but does that really translate into anything? For you facebook users, don't you scan your feed for the people and brands you really, authentically and voluntarily "like" rather than those you simply "liked" on a whim? Skipping over posts is today's version of discarding direct mail pieces.

I have observed over and over again that that the difference in our success or failure is not chance, but choice. Because whatever the challenge or adversity, it's not what happens that will determine our destiny; it's how we react to what happens. That's what Start Strong is all about!
