How to Deal: Difficult Leaders
| |
| Your office morale is low, although your productivity is at a constant, sub par level. The atmosphere in the organization is that of sheer terror and dissatisfaction, not because of a near miss deadline, but because a supervisor has an overly authoritative approach to leading his team, or department. Such a scenario is not as far-fetched as it may seem. In many organizations, an over zealous (but well meaning) supervisor or manager may exercise severe leadership tactics in order to create the most successful team possible. Unfortunately, for the employees, such a leadership leads to dissatisfaction to the organization and later, a loss of talent for the organization as dissatisfied employees begin to leave. In this edition of Astronology, The How to Deal trilogy will discuss difficult managers. |

Battling the Bully - Standing Up for Yourself with Confidence and Assertiveness
| |
| I learned at an early age that if you allow people to bully, harass, or cut you down, then they will do so. This article provides four steps you can take to battle the bullies in your life, with confidence and assertiveness, once and for all. |

Help! My sales team isn’t coping with the fallout from the GFC
| |
| Many sales people, for the first time, are experiencing tough times when it comes to selling and many are not sure how to handle themselves in these difficult situations.
The current climate is, indeed, a test of character.
Many sales people, especially those in their 20's and 30's have not likely experienced selling in tough markets before. For the past 12 years prior to 2008, at least, the business climate in our market place has been, for the most part, buoyant. As we all know it's very easy to sell when times are good.
It now begs the question: How well have we prepared ourselves practically, emotionally, and physically to manage our way through these tough times? |

Do You Have The Likeability Factor?
| |
| Much of our success in life will be determined by our ability to sell ourselves to others. Whether in our personal or working lives; people will judge us by what we say and what we do. However, more importantly, this will be influenced by how likeable we are. |

You Get More Flies with Sugar
| |
| Let's be serious. If you're having problems, anyone asking you about them already knows what's up. So cowboy-up and face the music. Be open and honest. You don't have to share the dirty laundry and all the details. But you can be honest, open and paint a picture that is true. People respect other people that open the kimono and tell the truth. And guess what, customers are people!

Access Granted: Stephanie Okereke on the Making of "Through the Glass" Film
| |
| Whether in Nollywood or Hollywood, it is rare to find women, especially Black/African women, in executive film roles such as producers and directors. Nollywood A-list Actress Stephanie Okereke bucks the trend with the debut of her first film called "Through the Glass," in which she wrote, produced and directed. "Through the Glass" is about phobias we have in entering committed relationships. It also cuts to the core by addressing some of the reasons we have such phobias, for example, childhood pain. Okereke recently released a trailer of "Through the Glass" and the response has been lots of excitement and buzz! Amidst all the excitement, Ladybrille caught up with the A-list actress for an exclusive all access granted on the making of "Through the Glass." http://www.throughtheglassmovie.com/

BE AN EXPERT IN YOUR OWN LIFE
| |
| To be experts in managing our lives, and therefore to take back the power of choice, we need to know ourselves. We need to be clear about what motivates us, what we aspire to be, what energizes us and what drains us, what moves us toward our goals and what gets in the way. |

Developing Your PB (Personal Best)
| |
| The idea of your PB is the idea of meeting and exceeding your own best performance and standards. Athletes tend to judge their own performances by how close to their PB it is.
