So Why Do You Do What You Do?
| |
| In today's society we often put a lot of emphasis on HOW things are done. Present a plan with lofty goals to the board of directors of any company and surely they will ask you how you suppose those goals will be met. Apply for a mortgage and you will be asked to demonstrate how you plan to pay it off. Give a professor the correct answer to a complex question and chances are you'll be asked how you arrived at your conclusion.
The HOW is often so predominant that the WHY is sometimes completely forgotten, as if the WHY is of less importance. Nothing could be further from the truth. WHY you want something is infinitely more important than HOW you think you're going to achieve it. |

LEARNING TO HAVE FUN – EVERYDAY!
| |
| Even as I write the heading – it feels odd. Surely we don’t need to ‘learn’ how to have fun? Perhaps not. But I do know from the many people I’ve coached, having fun everyday is not something that happens very much. Having fun is often relegated to weekends, special days and holidays – and even some of these days aren’t much fun. This Tip looks at how you can increase the level of fun you have in your life. |

Rejection - Not By You, Really
| |
| Rejection isn't failure. I've been back from vacation for five days (including the weekend) and I've send out around 100 50 (if felt like 100, but I went back and counted and it was slightly more than 50) rejection emails to deals that came into my inbox while I was on vacation. It's part of my job - and I try to always at least give a little context as to why something isn't interesting to me. But 50 in five days (really 10 days including the vacation) starts to be a little discouraging. |

Imagine a Bigger Market and You'll See a Bigger Market
| |
| Scientists in two studies at the University of Virginia discovered that softball players and golfers who had good days perceived balls and golf holes as larger than the players who had bad days. The question is, Did this difference in perception cause the player to have better days or did the day's performance cause the players to perceive the ball and holes as bigger?

Does Lack of Confidence Impact Your Productivity?
| |
| We all have those days. You know the kind I'm talking about. The days where nothing seems to go right and no matter what you do, things seem to fall apart. The day where others are telling you that you can't more than you can.
Your ability to pick yourself up and start again during those days is hugely important to your ability to make something really extraordinary happen. |

SUNRISES AND SUNSETS
| |
| Let me start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year.
One of my fondest memories of summers at the lake was sitting on the deck at the cottage (preferably screened in) either early in the morning with a hot cup of coffee and a blanket wrapped around me watching the sun come up or late in the evening sitting with a drink and in the old days an occasional cigar, quietly watching the sun go down on another day. It was always at these times I would reflect back over days past and wonder about days to come and where my life would take me and my family.

7 Day Challenge to Being Happier Today
| |
| So, what is this challenge that can make you happier in just 7 days?
NO complaining for 7 days!
Of course the goal is to keep it up after 7 days. :-)
I’m not talking about just the big complaints… like “oh my gosh, the dog had another accident on the rug!” but also the little complaints like, “traffic is so slow this morning,” “it’s so cold outside, winter stinks, why won’t the kids pick up their toys, I hate these shoes, my co-worker is a jerk,” etc. We all do it, often without even realizing that we’re complaining.
