Lesson #2: Give Your Marketing a Mass Appeal
| |
| “Advertising and promotion alone will not sustain a bad product or a product that is not right for the times,” Morita once said. That, however, did not stop Morita from creating successful marketing campaigns that would help transform Sony from a local Japanese shop into a multinational corporate giant. |

How Promotional Caps became a Fashion Trend
| |
| Have you ever wondered how the humble trucker cap became a fashion icon when it was branded with the Von Dutch logo? This is one of those success stories that seem to be too good to be true but prove that promotional products can be used in such a way that they become the fashion of the day.
This article focuses on some fundamental marketing strategies and illustrates that the key to success is to know your market and how to influence it. The creators of the Von Dutch cap were able to identify that the easiest path to it's young market was to first recruit influential celebrities and have them be seen to create the new trend by wearing a new style of cap. | The town of Ajax is located in Southern Ontario, Canada. Ajax owes its name to a navy cruiser called HMS Ajax that prevailed during the Second World War. It forms a part of the Durham region and comprises a population of around 91,000 people. Situated on the coast of Lake Ontario, the town was established in the year 1955 and is now considered a rapidly growing community. Excellent Marketing To Get In A Lather About!
| |
| One of my favourite trips out is to a small northern mill town called Hebden Bridge here is West Yorkshire. There are a number of reasons why I love this place so much, first of all it is beautiful, it just lies in a small valley in the pennines surrounded by lovely clean clear countryside, it has the river and a canal and a multitude of beautiful walks. The energy is uplifting and the people are typical northerners which means they are plain talking, friendly and very helpful.
But by far the best attraction for me as a marketer is the town its self.

The Search for Normality
| |
| Recently, I heard about a group of advertising agencies that constantly seek what they call a "normal" city or town. Apparently, what they are looking for is the demographically perfect example of the United States. They spend a great deal of time searching for this elusive pocket of normality. Even when they find a city or town that they deem to be normal, within a year or two they have to move on, because the existing site is-for whatever reason-no longer "normal."

It takes all kinds of businesses to keep a community running smoothly and meet the laws of supply and demand. Now, take a look at your community through the eyes of a potential business owner. Take note of specialty shops, franchise stores, and retail establishments that line the streets and boulevards of your hometown. Is there are coffee franchise among the mix and if so, how many? |

Great Leadership Requires Inspiration
| |
| Go out and take a walk. As you stroll around your city, town, or countryside, think of all the good things about it and remember why you chose to live there. Get out of town and take a hike in nature. As you walk around, think about all the wonderful things about your state or nation, and why you're blessed to live there. Walk around your home, inside and out, and think about all the reasons your own home is such a blessing, too.... |
