I am me. I am not you. I am comfortable (I think) with my beliefs, with my likes and dislikes, with my judgements and opinions; I try to be as honest as I can; I try to be truthful; I try to be kind and compassionate and generally try to behave towards other people as I would like them to behave towards me. In other words I like to think of myself as an ordinary kind of bloke trying to live by my understanding and interpretation of events and circumstances. In other words I am trying to live by my own authority.

We have all come into contact with one at some time or another but there is nothing that causes more angst in the workplace than the activities of a bully. Strutting around, loud mouthed, opinionated, full of bluster and of course always right. If a situation arises in which there may be (God forbid) the possibility of error – then the shouting begins and it is all YOUR FAULT. The fault cannot possibly lie with the person who is always right (the bully). He, or she, must keep control of the situation. To do otherwise is to admit a failure, an error, and this cannot be. Result? Unhappiness all round.

Oh dear! We really are in a bit of a financial pickle aren’t we? It could even be said that we are up a creek, without the proverbial paddle.
