Solutions Not Rates Why Network Global Logistics Exemplifies The New Service Model For Integrated Logistics Network Global Logistics Profile
| |
| "To begin, one does not have to be in the throes of a disaster to benefit from my area of practice. While demanding situations in which bridging the chasm between an unexpected outcome and the reality of unrealized results is certainly something for which one becomes known, it is often the ability to see a problem on the distant horizon and structure the appropriate response that has generated the greatest level of client satisfaction.
What makes what I do unique is that I am unencumbered by a commitment to promote a particular methodology such as SCOR or Six Sigma because it is either trendy or has been recommended by the latest expert."

Metric Synchronization Versus Standardization The Real Value Behind IEE Smarter Solutions Profile
| |
| “Like a politician stumping for votes, proclamations by senior executives (and many industry pundits) that people and not technology are what is important rarely translates from the realm of oratory pontification into meaningful real-world application.
This is due in large part to the fact that outside of the framework of political correctness, communication as Bill McAneny offered in his book Frankenstein’s Manager – Leadership’s Missing Links is actually a desire and not a skill, a skill that is in short supply according to his findings. In fact, second only to the ubiquitous lack of people skills complaint, ineffective communication said McAneny is the most common charge leveled at an organization’s leadership.”

The Number 1 Question Can A Consultant Really Make a Difference
| |
| Over the past few weeks I have received a spate of questions asking (although some readers have already formed an opinion), what role does an outside consultant really play in an organization? Specifically, what do they do and how can they help me?
This is one of those rare instances when I wear the hats of an unbiased and neutral writer as well as a consultant (I write and teach accredited courses for associations such as Purchasing Management Association of Canada or PMAC).
While I cannot speak for others, over the next few paragraphs I will attempt to provide you with some additional insight into how I approach my work. Hopefully this will at least begin to paint a clearer pricture and perhaps establish a framework for evaluating your current consulting arrangements to enable you to get more from existing relationships. |

Strategic Sourcing Practices in Higher Education
| |
| Defining Strategic Sourcing
Strategic sourcing is the process of leveraging buying power, reducing the number of suppliers, verifying vendor compliance to negotiated agreements, and reducing the number of procurement transactions and cycle times. The idea is that, in evaluating opportunities to outsource, organizations can drive down unit costs and purchase commodities at the lowest possible cost of ownership.

Are Multiple Supply Chain Networks Important? (A PI Q and A)
| |
| I recently posed a question on the importance of Multiple Supply Chain Networks which, within a matter of several hours, elicited 14 responses from around the world.
And while the majority of respondents felt that the findings from an ISM, CAPS and AT Kearney 2006 report were not indicative of general market sentiments, it nonetheless has proven to be an issue that is of considerable interest to supply chain professionals and academics.
As a result, over the next week I will share the answers as well as corresponding discussion tracks starting today with the response from a Senior Director Supply Chain Operations in the Apparel & Fashion Industry in the United States.

| |
| Traditional membership models for many associations have become somewhat stagnate in that they are not effectively aligned with the emerging Web 2.0 world of dynamic engagement between stakeholders sharing the same interests and goals.
According to CPPC-CCMP President Kathleen Muretti, recognizing and responding to this changing landscape is a key tenet of her council’s value proposition.

Will dynamic pages hurt SEO?
| |
| The Google Webmaster guidelines says that “If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a “?” character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few.” It is very true that search engines are less likely to crawl dynamic URLs, there are so many other issues associated with dynamic URL, and we will discuss few of them. To those who are new to web site architecture, I will explain what static and dynamic websites is real quick. |

Audience Analysis and Presentation Success
| |
| Successful people are dynamic communicators. Dynamic communicators are great presenters. If you want to become a great presenter, you need to spend time analyzing the audience for your talks. My successful colleagues in the National Speakers Association do this. They learn everything they can about who is in the audience and what they are expecting prior to crafting a talk. If you do this, you'll be able to create and deliver solid presentations that will meet the needs of your audiences, and in the process, gain a reputation as a great speaker and dynamic communicator. |

Successful People Use Their Nerves to Deliver Dynamic Presentations
| |
| Successful people are dynamic communicators. Presentations are opportunities to shine -- to demonstrate that you are a dynamic communicator. Stage fright is the biggest enemy of presentation success. Don't let stage fright rob you of your opportunity to shine. One good presentation can make a career. Presentations are the best ways to get noticed and have your name at the top of the list when promotional opportunities come up. There are several ways to deal with presentation anxiety: be prepared, know your stuff cold; think of your talk as a conversation with the audience; tell stories to illustrate your points. However, there is one piece of advice that trumps all when it comes to delivering dynamic presentations: practice, practice, practice! |

Nothing is static – all is in a state of flux

| Nothing in the world is static. Nothing remains the same. Everything is in a state of change. Those who long for stability, whereby what is present now will forever be so, are delusional. Such a situation will not and cannot exist. Change is everywhere at all times. The world and life is dynamic. Everything is in a state of flux. |

How to Limit Business Growth in 2011
| |
| Ask anyone about business focus and they'll begin talking about staying the course, sticking to the plan, 1, 3 and 5 year objectives. We keep focusing on that same profit margin (or lately, cash balance) as our goal - and miss opportunities for growth, investment and new markets along the way. That doesn't cut it in today's dynamic world. |
