Practicing Assertiveness
Very early Sunday morning I was waiting in line at Montreal’s airport. Despite the early hour, the airport was crowded and the lines at each of the security points were the longest I had ever seen them. People were patiently waiting; however there was an older gentleman who became quite distressed as he realized he would miss his flight due to the slow movement of the line. He attracted the attention of one of the officials, however they merely shrugged unhelpfully. Then two European men in their mid 30’s went to the aid of the older man, they asked all the people in the queue ahead of him would they mind if he jumped ahead of them to catch his flight. Of course no one minded and the man went quickly through security.

So when we pick it up and say, ‘We’re going to have it there early the next morning,’ I mean we have to deliver. There’s nothing else to it.”

Both races used the same starting line.

Who Is Your Proud Family?
Once again I was on the couch at 5am watching Disney cartoons. I like to get up early and get a bit of work done before I go for a run. While I’m cleaning out the last evening’s email, I watch a bit of children’s television to pick up a life lesson or two. This morning, I got a great business lesson from Lilo and Stich.

The Philosopher
It was a heavy and wet morning when the trees let out quiet sighs, aching from the fresh weight of the evening’s frost. A man sat in his study watching exhausted leaves tremble and fall, spilling light with each pirouette. It was a morning not unlike any other for this man. He rose at seven, as was his custom. Washed his face with cool water and prepared for the morning’s conversation and walk with Mr. Wellington.

It was a beautiful, Sunday morning in Porbandar India as I park my car near the Kirti Mandir. It is a place where M.K.Gandhi was born. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. In fact, we all need time for ourselves and doing nothing, except meeting ourselves.

What Are You Harvesting?
Talk about a cliche - we actually went for a drive in the country last Sunday. That's right, a "Sunday Drive," like people used to do two and three generations ago. It was delightful to roam around the southern Colorado countryside, with no time pressures and no particular destination. We ended up patronizing a roadside "farmer's market" fruit-and-vegetable stand, and it got me thinking about inspiration....
