Little Things Make a Big Difference
There's an old saying that "by the mile it's a trial, and by the inch it's a cinch." The reason the saying is old is because it's good, it's valid. If it were not, it would be dead and buried. For 24 years of my adult life, by choice I weighed well over 200 pounds. I say "by choice" because I have never "accidentally" eaten anything, so when I choose to eat too much, I have chosen to weigh too much. Every choice has an end result.

The Top 5 Things I Learned From Robert Kiyosaki
The book ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter was a revolutionary read and inspired me to move past fears that have stopped me from doing more with my life financially. Reading the book a second time, I really focused on the opposite of all I knew – and those were the ideas of his rich dad. This article covers the top 5 things that I have either gained a greater understanding of or learned more about from Robert Kiyosaki.

Focus on educating your customers
When customers are not buying, it’s very easy to take it personally, think the whole world’s against you and get very demotivated with the whole thing. And then of course, that makes the situation even worse – because customers can sense a mile off if you’re not happy and even though you desperately want more customers, they don’t want to work with you.

Punished by rewards
Punishment and reward proceed from basically the same psychological model, one that conceives of motivation as nothing more than the manipulation of behavior. As part of my own development and in an attempt to keep my mind as open and fresh as possible, I take to reading all sorts of things. On my current reading list is a very interesting book called “Punished by Rewards” by Alfie Kohn, author, speaker and educator. He writes about the trouble with “gold stars, incentive plans, As, praise and other bribes”.

Writing Training, Business Communication Training, Presentation Skills Training And Instruction in Effective Communication
Writing or speaking in public, effective communication begins and ends with the "what" -- the content. Once writing training and presentation skills training help you gain confidence in that (and you will because you're an expert; otherwise, why would you be writing or speaking in the first place?), the "how" will begin to fall into place. To get there, you should take advantage of the fact that WRITING IS THINKING, learn to FOCUS ON YOUR READER OR AUDIENCE and EDIT YOURSELF SCRUPULOUSLY (quality control). Also, no matter how casually you may approach emails, that form of business communication is ubiquitous and requires the same writing skills as hard-copy memos or reports or letters. So the same three foundations of effective communication should apply when you start tapping away at the keyboard.

Mentoring and Millennials
According to Bob Canalosi, chief learning officer of General Electric Health Care, a top leadership competency needed in the 2020 workplace is to be a “legendary builder of people and teams.” Canalosi explains this as “coaching and mentoring both face-to-face and virtually; challenging people to achieve more than they believed they could.” Marshall Goldsmith, executive educator and coach, also predicts that a top competency for leaders of the future will be “sharing leadership.”

Put People Before Profits and make more money!
My solid conclusion after thirty five years in business, twenty of which have been as a advisor, educator, mentor and speaker, is that leader/managers and business owners who genuinely put their people before profits make more money and are therefore able to make a greater contribution to the world, locally, nationally and internationally, in a myriad of ways. Putting people first is a key strategy and is one of nine essential ingredients in my view for success in business in the modern world.

Leadership Qualities that Promote Positive Racial Teacher-Student Relationships
Several years ago, as I sat in my office, I wondered if working as an educator was worth it. I was spending most of my time processing disciplinary infractions which did not allow time for instructional leadership. I knew that the time students spent in my office and in the in-school suspension program resulted in lost instructional time for teachers and students. This lost in instructional time has an impact on standardized test scores, school leadership, students, teachers, and the local community. When cultural conflicts between educators and students are non-existent, schools become the benefactor ...
