They came from opposite ends of the earth to create a billion dollar company that has revolutionized the world. California-based Google Inc. has not only become the Internet’s most popular search engine with revenues of over $6 billion yearly, but the company has also undoubtedly entered the mainstream culture; the verb “to google” was recently added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

It IS a Popularity Contest
Business and high school actually have one very important thing in common. Thinking back on my high school days, I remember the start of the school year and when elections for class president were about to begin. . .

Management Courses
It’s a big, scary world out there, especially for the entrepreneur wanna be who has had little to no business experience or training. Entrepreneurs are known for their willingness to take risks, for their innovation, and not necessarily for their academic record. Indeed, many of the most successful CEOs in the world are those who dropped out of university or even high school in order to follow their dreams. But for those of you who aren’t sure you are the next Richard Branson, a high school dropout so determined to be his own boss that he is now a billionaire, there are other options. One of those options is to take management courses.

The Mann Deshi Business School for Rural Women (MDBS) is a new Micro-business school program launched in India that provides training in technical, financial and marketing skills to women with no formal education and to girls who have dropped out of high school, allowing them to start and improve their own small enterprises.

Dreams CAN Come True Heres How
Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” and there are also numerous studies that prove the value of writing down and keeping track of your thoughts and goals. Here are three strategies that have worked for me in helping me to achieve more in life.

Presidential List
I read an article recently that made a lot of sense to me. Doris Kearns Goodwin is a Pulitzer Prize winner for her books on history, and she made a list of ten points that are important for a President to consider and to emulate if they hoped to be great. She has written books about Abraham Lincoln and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, and she believes leadership strengths should be considered carefully before voting. Here are some of the attributes that she feels make for a great leader--and I agree!

CONFIDENCE BOOSTERS
As you're probably only too aware, our confidence and self esteem are very variable - more of a wavy line than a straight line. Some days we feel we could conquer the world and other days we just want to hide under the duvet! We can miss opportunities because we allow fear and self doubt to get in the way. We undermine our confidence by taking things too personally and by trying to second guess what others think of us. I love the phrase: "What you think of me is none of my business!" And Eleanor Roosevelt famously said: "No-one can make you feel inferior without your permission."

It’s Never Too Late!
In May of 1983, Helen Hill, age 95, received her high school diploma. She was absolutely ecstatic. When she finished high school 76 years earlier, she and her five classmates did not receive formal diplomas because the school was so much in debt they could not afford them. When she received her belated diploma, Mrs. Hill was thrilled.

Why Getting Head Lice Is the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me
Thanks to donations from my readers, seven Guatemalan students will go to high school, three villages have school supplies, one has a new refrigeration system for soy milk, 60 villagers ate meat, and 140 kids got ice cream. I also think I have lice, but I couldn't be happier!

Have You ever heard of the Entrepreneurs Business School
Did anyone ever tell you in college on How to become rich? The answer is no and ever since you where in grade school it was all about getting your high school diploma and going to college.

Eleanor Roosevelt Teaches Sales 101
Whenever I hear a prospect tell me "no" I think of Eleanor Roosevelt who once said, "Never take a "no" from someone that can't say "yes". How true... Many times the prospect that says "no" cannot say "yes" either because they aren't a decision-maker, or they are the wrong person to be speaking to in the first place. Of course the prospect never tells you they can't say "yes". So it's up to you to find out! Next time a prospect tells you "no", follow Eleanor Roosevelt's rule, and make sure that you're getting a valid "no" from the prospect you're speaking with, and not from someone that can only say "no" because they can't say "yes".
